AN APPLE A DAY Materials needed: Two baskets – one labeled “Good Fruit” and one “Bad Fruit.” The ten Bible verses listed below, written out, and cut apart; or print each verse on an apple shaped paper or tape verses to real apples. Some highlights are: Throughout February – Palm Beach Gardens • The library at PBCC’s Palm Beach Gardens location will have a display on African American inventors with details on their inventions. Among them are Garrett Morgan whose many inventions included the gas mask and the first traffic signal; Madam C.J. Walker who invented several hair care products and George Washington Carver who invented peanut butter. Library hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Friday, Feb. 1 – Belle Glade • Here & Now… The Legacy of Luther Vandross will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center at PBCC in Belle Glade. Singer and songwriter Terry Steele will bring the music of the legendary eight-time Grammy Award winning Vandross to life in this performance accompanied by a sextet of vocalists and a band. Wednesday, Feb. 13 – Belle Glade • Sol Griots, a local African drumming and dance group, will perform on the campus patio at PBCC in Belle Glade from 11:30 a.m.
