NEXT SUNDAY’S READINGS [Fifth Sunday of Easter] Acts 14: 21 – 27; Ps 144; Apoc 21: 1 – 5; John 13: 31 - 35 YEAR OF PRAYER – FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER It is said that every shepherd has a different ‘voice’, a different way of communicating with his or her own sheep, so that when even when shepherds meet together and all their sheep are mixed up, an individual shepherd can move on knowing that only the sheep of his or her flock will follow. Jesus is our shepherd, the Good shepherd. He knows each one of us personally. It is comforting to know that we have someone who really cares about us and who calls us by name. In a world where there is a myriad of voices trying to capture our attention and entice us into this or that, we can be confident that there is one voice which offers us fullness of life if we choose to listen. In our following of Jesus, we come to know God and in knowing God we experience the goodness and kindness of God’s love and mercy for each one of us.
