As it has in various Southland locations nearly every year since the club’s inception in 1965, the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills (www.kennelclubofbeverlyhills.org) will once again present two exciting all-breed AKC dog shows for competitors and spectators.

This year’s show will feature some 2,000 dogs from over 200 recognized breeds and varieties competing at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 29-March 1.

The popular spectator and visual appeal of the show has attracted network television for the fourth straight year. NBC Sports will be present at the Saturday KCBH show and will tape features, Groups and Best In Show to be televised on Sunday, May 17 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), as “The Beverly Hills Dog Show Presented by Purina.” See www.nbcsports.com/beverlyhillsdogshow for additional information on the telecast.

In addition to the breed competition, the additional highlights of the competition include:

 The AKC National Owner-Handler Series will be held on Saturday and Sunday. This is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers.

 Junior Showmanship competition for children ages 9-18 will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Entry details are in the premium list.

 On Sunday only, the 4-to-6 Month Puppy Class will be held for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months of age on the day of the event.

Included on the show weekend (Feb. 28-29, March 1), in addition to the KCBH all-breed shows on Saturday and Sunday, are several specialty shows (one breed only). In some cases, these are independent shows, in some cases they are supported entries held in conjunction with the all-breed shows.

Among those events is the world-famous Great Western Terrier Association Group show, which includes competition in all terrier breeds on Friday.
