Do you favor legalizing marijuana for non-medical personal use in Delaware?

 Oppose

Explanation: I was a sponsor of medical marijuana and voted for its passage. And, this year, I introduced HB 374 which added glaucoma and cluster migraine headaches as illnesses that were added to our medical marijuana law. I was also a co-sponsor of legislation that decriminalized small amounts of marijuana for personal use. But, at this time, I do not support legalization as it is currently constructed.. I am continuing to listen to the discussion and to the residents of the 14th District, but I have concerns about legalization that would have to be addressed before I could support it. A big concern is that the legislation as written would have created two new divisions of government and created 28 additional state employee positions.

Explanation: “I support the legalization of recreational marijuana, as most of my constituents do. But, the devil is in the details. Delaware must thoroughly study the http://www.billdilks.com/ good/bad of states that have legalized it, and build model legislation from

[email protected] that study. We all know that a first-cut bill of that size will not be 100% perfect. But we need to start somewhere. That's what we have (302) 252-5654 amendments for, to tweak and customize based on common sense and experience. Please remember, a vote against a bill is not a vote against the title. It could be a vote against tax dollar use, distribution management, or any number of other details that have to be worked out. Delaware has decriminalized based on amount, and is having/had criminal records expunged where apprpriate. Legalization of recreational use is the next logical step.”
