Shalom,

We wanted to give you an update on security measures we have taken. As a synagogue, we must always maintain a balance between safe and secure and warm and welcoming. To that end, the Board of Directors has established a security committee composed of lay people and professional staff. Their mission is to determine how to improve security and how to best use the resources of our newly established Koach Fund and any potential grant money.

The fi rst security initiative is to give every adult member a fob which can be put on a key ring (limit 2 per family). The fob will be programmed so that members can have access to the building during service PAUL S. DRAZEN, z”l times and when meetings and events are scheduled. This will allow us to keep the building locked, RABBI EMERITUS but our members can easily get in. During regular business hours, (Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00pm) the fob will not work, and you will still need to be buzzed in. ESA KANTER JAFFE This is so our staff knows who’s in the building, which is especially important if there is an emergency. BAALAT TEFILLAH The fob will be programmed so that you may enter the building during the following hours: INTERIM EDUCATION DIRECTOR

BARBARA S. SIMON Monday-Friday: 6:20 - 9:00 am and 5:10 - 5:45 pm EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Saturday: 9:00 am - 12:15 pm Sunday: 8:45 am – 1:15 pm; 5:15 – 5:45 pm ALICIA C. GROSS and during scheduled meetings and events DIRECTOR ROTHSCHILD EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER To ensure security, fobs cannot be mailed. They must be picked up in person at the Temple offi ce during regular business hours. CHAIM J. JAFFE ANDREA KNOLLER CO-PRESIDENTS We ask that once issued a fob, if you should lose it, please notify the Temple offi ce immediately so that it can be deactivated. If you wish to replace a lost fob, there will be an $18 charge. If you would like an additional fob for a member of your household, please contact Barbara Simon, [email protected]. There will be a minimal charge. Please note that fobs will only be issued to adults and teens who are old enough to understand the security requirements and the responsibility associated with possession of a fob.

Although it may be contrary to the good manners with which we’ve been raised, please do not hold the door open for someone behind you; don’t let someone come in with you. Anyone entering should either be using the fob or the buzzer.

Once again, we must express a Todah Rabah to those members who have contributed to the Koach Fund. These resources have enabled us to provide the fobs without charging the membership.
