9 Thomas READING. There was a Thomas Reading recorded in a marriage to Sarah Dicker in Froyle, 12 Nov 1792. It appears they had five children in : Hannah, Frances, George, John and James Reading; and that they were in by 1809.6,20 He was living in 1793 at Froyle, Co. Hampshire, England.21 Children of Ann2 Bone and Thomas Reading were: 4. i. Thomas Reading3 Bone, christened 14 Jul 1793 at St. Mary's Upper Froyle, Froyle, Co. Henry COMBS was christened on 2 Aug 1766 at St. Mary's Upper Froyle, Froyle, Co. Hampshire, England; son of Thomas Coombs and Mary.6 He died in Dec 1847 at age 81.24 He was buried on 4 Dec 1847 at St. Mary's Upper Froyle, Froyle, Co. Generation Three 4. Thomas Reading3 BONE;27,28 christened 14 Jul 1793 at St. Mary's Upper Froyle, Froyle, Co. Hampshire, England; described in baptismal record as 'baseborn' son of anne;6,29 married Elizabeth Albery, daughter of James Albery and Frances Poling, 11 Oct 1830 at Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England; witnessed by Martha Albery. Elizabeth Albery's parents were recorded, but Thomas's were not. Thomas was a master brewer, and made his mark with an 'x'. Elizabeth signed her name;30,31 died "aged 69 years... His end was peace" 13 Jul 1862 at age 68;32 buried 18 Jul 1862 at Petersfield Cemetery, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England, "age 69, unconsecrated ground, section KK", where the stone reads "His end was peace."33,32,34 In 1805 and 1807, Thomas' mother and then grandmother died. His whereabouts between 1807 and 1821 are unknown. Thomas' uncle John lived until 1820, in Froyle.35 On 21 Feb 1821, Thomas Bone was admitted to the Church of Christ (Independent), College Street, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire.36 It is likely that Thomas was acquainted with James Albery, a senior maltster on College St., Petersfield. Thomas was also a maltster, attended the same church as James' daughter Elizabeth from 1829, and married her in 1830.37 He was a maltster between 1832 and 1859.38,39 He and Elizabeth Albery appeared on the census of 1841 at College Street, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England; where Thomas (~45) a maltster, Elizabeth (~45), Mary Ann (9), Emma (5),

10 and Harry (4) were present. All declared born Co. Hampshire.40,41 He and Elizabeth Albery appeared on the census of Mar 1851 at College Street, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England; where Thomas (57) was a maltster and brewer, born in Froyle. Elizabeth (58) was born in Petersfield. Mary Anne (18), Emma (15) and Harry Albery (14) were also present.42,43 He and Elizabeth Albery appeared on the census of Mar 1861 at College Street, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England; where Thomas (67) was a maltster. Elizabeth (68), and Harry (24) were present (but Mary Ann and Emma were not).42,44

Elizabeth ALBERY; whose name was also spelled Albury and Alberry45,46 was born on 29 Mar 1793 at Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England.47,48 She was baptized on 25 Apr 1793 at St. Peter's, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England.49,48 She died of cold weather and old age on 6 Feb 1879 at Steep, Co. Hampshire, England, at age 85.50 She was buried on 8 Feb 1879 at Petersfield Cemetery, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England, "Elizabeth Bone of Sheet age 85, unconsecrated section (K)."51,52 Elizabeth was admitted to the Church of Christ (Independent), College Street, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England.60 She and Charles Lillywhite appeared on the census of 1881 at Sheet Bridge Mill, Steep, Co. Hampshire, England; where Charles (59) was a miller, and Mary Ann (48) and servant Mary Gillman (26) were present.61 The Lillywhite's house at Steep remained at least until the end of the 20th Century, being considerably enlarged, and now known as Elmwood.62 ii. 11 75;71,67 buried 18 Dec 1912 at St. George's On-The-Hill, Range 9 North, S 1/2 lot 16, plot 3, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.72,67 Harry may have attended Churcher's College sometime between 1847 and 1858. He later told how he could pick from his father's apple trees reaching over the fence from the school yard. He may instead have attended the British boys and girls school on College Street.73 He was a Master Brewer and beer retailer in 1865 at College Street, Petersfield, Co. Hampshire, England.74,75 He and Kate Stallard emigrated circa 1867 to Canada; Possibly the Bones first settled in Islington, Ontario (prob. with the Stallards in 1867) -- just west of Toronto, then moved on to St. Joseph, Missouri, and then returned to Allandale and Barrie by 1880.42,76,77
