Edinboro has three wrestlers currently in the rankings. Jacob Oliver is the top ranked Fighting Scot. The redshirt freshman is ranked 27th at 174 lbs. Andrew Dunn Tennessee-Chattanooga and Kent State. Edinboro jumped out to a 15-6 lead against Chattanooga, (KU), 6-0 but the Mocs won the last four matches, two by bonus points, to give the Mocs the 23-15 win. Fritz Most Outstanding Wrestler: Shane Ruhnke, Millersville Hoehn (165 lbs.), Jacob Oliver (174 lbs.), Dylan Reynolds (197 lbs.) and Jon Spaulding (285 lbs.). In the second dual of the evening, the Fighting Scots suffered a 26-12 loss to the Golden Flashes. TRIO OF FIGHTING SCOTS MEDAL AT CLEVELAND STATE A trio of Fighting Scots placed at the Cleveland State Open on December 15. Christopher Matzke took fourth place at 149 lbs., while heavy- weight Jon Spaulding came in fifth. Peter Pappas, wrestling unattached, reached the finals at 157 lbs. before losing to Mike D’Angelo (unattached), 9-6, in the finals. OLIVER, ANCEWICZ CLAIM TITLES AS EIGHT FIGHTING SCOTS PLACE AT PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS Eight of nine Edinboro wrestlers placed at the 76th PSAC Championships, including a pair of champions in Jacob Oliver (174 lbs.) and Zach Ance- wicz (184 lbs.). Five Fighting Scots earned All-PSAC honors as Carmine Ciotti finished second at 141 lbs. while both Tim Suter (157 lbs.) and Dylan Reynolds (197 lbs.) finished third in their respective weight classes. Other place winners included Richie Gomez, who was fourth at 133 lbs., and Chris Matzke and Jon Spaulding, who placed fifth at 149 and 285 lbs., respectively. OLIVER PLACES SECOND TO LEAD FIGHTING SCOTS AT NAVY CLASSIC Jacob Oliver placed second at 174 lbs. to lead the Edinboro wrestling team at the 41st Navy Classic on Saturday. In one of the largest fields in tournament history, the Fighting Scots finished tied for 14th with 28.5 points. Oliver advanced to the finals with three decisions wins, including a 10-3 win over Frank Guida of Bucknell in the semifinals. He faced off against Andrew Morgan of Campbell in the finals and held a 3-1 lead late in the second period before falling 12-6. FIGHTING SCOTS OPEN SEASON WITH SPLIT AGAINST THE CITADEL, #21 WYOMING Edinboro opened their dual season splitting with The Citadel and #21 Wyoming. The Fighting Scots earned Hill a win in his first dual as Edinboro picked up the 19-17 win over the Bulldogs. Ancewicz and Dylan Reynolds (197 lbs.) both earned decisions over the Cowboys to wrap up the day as the Fighting Scots fell, 33-6, Wyoming., OLIVER, REYNOLDS WIN TITLES AT JOURNEYMAN NORTHEAST OPEN The Fighting Scots came away with 12 placewinners during the Journeyman Northeast Open, led by titles from Jacob Oliver (174C) and Dylan Reynolds (197C), each going a perfect 4-0. Oliver improved to 9-1 on the season while Reynolds is now 7-3. Arick Shankles (125D), Carmine Ciotti (141B), Tim Suter (157C), and Jon Spaulding (285B) all finished third in their respective weight classes. Richie Gomez (133C), Chris Matzke (149D), Matthew Dowler (157B) came in fourth in theirs while Lucas Rodriguez (125C), Zach Ancewicz (184B) and Cullen Wolford (184C) came in fifth. EDINBORO HAS 11 WRESTLERS PLACE AT MICHIGAN STATE OPEN The Fighting Scots placed 11 wrestlers at the Michigan State Open on November 3. Peter Pappas (157 lbs.) and Jacob Oliver (174 lbs.) both won their respective weight classes in the freshmen/sophomore division. In the freshman/sophomore division, Spaulding finished second at heavy- weight in the with true freshmen Cody Mulligan (184 lbs.) and Gaige Willis (Hwt.) finished third.
