This is a Victoria Food Company Championship Qualifier. Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3’9”) in height, there will be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course will contain a combination and a water tray. All riders, owners and producers must be members of the British Show Horse Association (BSHA), and all horses must be registered with the BSHA. THE RoR TATTERSALLS SHOW SERIES CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021 Open to mares and geldings, 4 years old and over, any height. Riders must be 15 years and over and must wear a safety/Kite Mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. All entries MUST be registered with Weatherbys in their General Stud Book and MUST have competition registration with the RoR.

Classes 195 & 196 are open to that have raced or been in training, and horses must have qualified for this Championship in one of the RoR Amateur ridden show classes from 1st August 2019 to 1st June 2021. Racing injuries and blemishes are ignored in this series. Must be produced and ridden by an Amateur.

Classes 197 & 198 are open to thoroughbreds that have raced in GB, and horses must have qualified for this Championship in one of the RoR Tattersalls ridden show classes from 2nd June 2019 to 1st June 2021. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series. All classes will be run under the rules of RoR and split into two sections.

Classes 195 & 197: Horses whose last race was under National Hunt or point-to-point race rules (this includes NH Bumper races). TOTAL WASTE MANAGEMENT LTD HICKSTEAD MINI CHALLENGE These classes are unaffiliated. They are run under Hickstead rules, not British Showjumping rules. Children’s ages to be correct on the first day of the show. Proof of age need not be sent with entries but must be available at the ringside on the day in case of dispute. Failure to produce proof of age may result in disqualification. For ponies 148cms & under. No spurs to be worn. These classes will be held on the NSEA River Lawn at 3.30pm starting with section 3 (Thursday & Friday) and 9.30am starting with section 1 (Saturday and Sunday). SECTION 1 10 years and under. Height of fences approx. 60cms. No lead reins. Class reference (to be quoted on entry form): 300.A (Thurs), 300.B (Fri), 300.C (Sat), 300.D (Sun). SECTION 2 For novice riders, 5 - 10 years. Height of fences approx. 30cms. May be led. Class reference (to be quoted on entry form): 400.A (Thurs), 400.B (Fri), 400.C (Sat), 400.D (Sun). SECTION 3 For novice riders, 7 years and under. Cross Poles. May be led. Class reference (to be quoted on entry form): 500.A (Thurs), 500.B (Fri), 500.C (Sat), 500.D (Sun). No rider may compete in more than one section per day. Each class to be judged as a single phase. Those equal will tie. Riders competing in these classes may not compete in any other classes at the show. The first 6 prizewinners in each section in the Total Waste Management Ltd Mini Championships on Sunday (open to competitors who have competed on at least one other day at this show) will receive prizes in kind. ENTRY FEE: £20 per class per day Thursday - Saturday. £25 per class on Sunday. For office purposes, entries must be made in advance and before close of entries. One horsebox pass and two exhibitor passes will be allocated per pony. These classes will take place on the NSEA River Lawn (see map in back of schedule). To access the NSEA River Lawn, cross the bridge below the Stable Field, turn left immediately and follow the river. There will be signage. The Total Waste Management Ltd Hickstead Mini Challenge classes are staged for fun and to give the children a chance to jump at Hickstead. Please bear this in mind when entering!

RULES FOR SHOWJUMPING EXHIBITORS

CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES Please note that entries must be received by the Secretary no later than Monday 17th May 2021.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND LATE ENTRIES Substitutions may be allowed in jumping competitions at the discretion of the Executive, providing they conform to Rule 79.4. If an animal is up- graded before a competition he may be transferred upon notice to the Executive to another appropriate competition. Late and amended entries if taken at the show, will be charged an extra £5 per class.

ORDER OF JUMPING Horses and ponies must jump in the order in which they appear on the Notice Board or starting sheet, unless special permission has been obtained from the Executive. Any competitor missing his turn may be eliminated from the competition. During the competition, three competitors must always be ready to enter the arena. If a competitor does not respond when he is called he loses his turn, and may be eliminated from the competition in progress.

COUNTDOWN SYSTEM The countdown system will be used in all arenas.

UNACCOMPANIED COMPETITORS Unaccompanied competitors must provide the Showjumping Secretary with a contact telephone number in case of an emergency.

DECLARATIONS Competitors in national classes must declare at the ringside before the start of their class. If there are no competitors waiting to jump or there are no numbers on the blackboard, the judges will close the class. This rule particularly applies to the first class of the day. Please ensure that you arrive early.

QUALIFYING FOR THE LONGINES INTERNATIONAL ARENA All starting fees will be taken at the Show Office. Starting fees are taken as declarations. Entries for all National Classes confined to registered horses/ponies to be ridden by members in accordance with Rule 79.

JUNIOR MEMBERS Junior Members are only permitted to compete on horses from the calendar year in which the age of 12 is reached.

STALLIONS Rule 82.19. No member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any showjumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the public are not put at risk of injury. Also refer to Rule 102.13, guidelines for restraining stallions. Stallion owners at Hickstead are required to bring their own electric packs for use in the stables. Failure to do so will result in exhibitors having to purchase a pack from the Stable Manager at a cost of £200 per unit. Unruly or dangerous animals may be asked to leave the showground.

RULES FOR HORSE BOOTS These rules apply to the Talent Seekers, and all Age classes. The total maximum weight of equipment allowed to be added to a horse’s leg, front or hind (single or multiple boots, fetlock rings, etc.) is 500g. All hind leg protections must have a maximum interior length of 16cms and a minimum exterior width of 5cms. The inside protection must be smooth and the fixings must be made of non-elastic Velcro type fasteners with no hooks or straps permitted. The rounded rigid part of the protection must be placed around the inside of the fetlock. No additional elements may be used in conjunction with the protection. Hind boots for classes under this rule that have an extra flap for protection should be allowed providing the flap is soft and clearly intended for protection only. Fetlock rings may be used in addition for protective purposes providing they are properly adjusted and providing the total weight of equipment on the horse’s leg does not exceed 500 grams. No additional elements may be used in conjunction with the protection as detailed above. Failure to comply will incur disqualification.

RULES FOR SHOWING EXHIBITORS HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIERS This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of classes 125, 126, 127, 139, 140, 142, 143, 144, 145, 147, 148, 158, 159, 167, 168, 169, 171, 188 and 189 is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. HEIGHT Official Measurement Certificates issued under the Joint Measurement Scheme of the BSHA, NPS and the BSPS only must be produced if requested. All horses must be properly shod except the in-hand classes.

HACKS, COBS AND RIDING HORSES These classes are being held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. For Horse of the Year Show qualifiers the Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk. Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, producers and riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. This is a qualifying show for the Hack, Cob and Riding Horse of the Year classes at Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 6th - 10th October 2021 and the first prize-winner in classes 139, 140, 143, 144, 145, 188 and 189 will qualify. If already qualified, qualification will be passed down the line. No horse lower than fifth may qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. In accordance with BSHA rules, the annual BSHA £15 Horse of the Year Show fee must have been paid to BSHA before the entry is made if the exhibitor wishes to qualify. The BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee cannot be paid in retrospect. This fee is not the Horse of the Year Show levy which goes to Grandstand Media Ltd. Horses competing at Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in the Hunter Sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse Classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. This is a qualifying show for the BSHA National Championship Show in September. The 1st or highest placed prize winners in classes 139, 140, 143, 144, 145, 188 and 189 will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic of the Year Final. The Finals will be held at the BSHA Hunter & National Championship Shows in September 2021. The BSHA offer a Novice, Amateur and Young Rider Rosette in each open class and a champion rosette for each section. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year. HUNTERS These classes are being held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. For Horse of the Year Show qualifiers, the Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk. Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, producers and riders must be Association members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. Classes 142, 167, 168, 169 and 171 are qualifying classes for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 6th - 10th October 2021. The first prizewinner in each class will qualify. If already qualified, qualification will pass down the line. In classes 142, 167, 168 and 169, qualification will not pass below fifth place. In class 171, qualification will not pass below third place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Entries in classes 167, 168 and 169 may not compete in class 142 and vice versa. In classes 167, 168 and 169 competitors must enter their horses in the appropriate sections. Class 167 will be judged first and the judges shall have the power to transfer exhibits to class 168 or 169 if they deem it necessary. Owners, producers and riders must be members of the British Show Horse Association (BSHA), and all horses must be registered with the BSHA.

MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND OPEN RIDDEN CLASSES These classes are being judged under BSPS rules as per the 2021 BSPS Rule & Show Handbook. Qualification will be verified by the BSPS office.

MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND MINI CLASSES These Classes are being held under Horse of the Year Show rules. The highest placed pony, not already qualified, from the first three in each class will qualify for Horse of the Year Show 6th - 10th October 2021. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.

COLOURED HORSE CLASSES This show is affiliated to CHAPS (UK). Exhibitors are asked to pay particular attention to the rulings printed above Class 184.

DRIVING These classes are being held under the auspices of the British Driving Society. This show is a qualifier for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 6th - 10th October 2021. The winner of the British Private Driving Derby will qualify - if already qualified, the reserve champion will go forward, down to 6th. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. The Champion will qualify for the Victoria Food Company Final to be held on 10th September 2021 at Wellington Riding Centre, Heckfield, Hook, Hampshire RG27 0LJ. If the champion has already qualified, the reserve will go forward.

MOBILE PHONES The use of mobile phones in the ring is prohibited. Anyone using a mobile phone in the ring will be asked to leave the ring.

BADGES FOR SHOWING EXHIBITORS Showing exhibitors will receive one Owner’s wristband (two if from the same household) and one Rider’s wristband, plus a Horsebox Pass for the Stable Field. One Groom’s wristband will be allocated per two horses. Exhibitor passes will only be issued for the day of competition, or for the week if stabling.

SHOWING EXHIBITORS’ NUMBERS Showing exhibitors will be sent their numbers in advance.

SHOWING GROOMS’ DRESS Grooms must be correctly dressed when entering the arena, i.e. hat and jacket, and no denim. Anyone deemed inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to enter the ring.

HICKSTEAD GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. FORFEITURE OF FEES AND CHARGES If entries are cancelled after the closing date, half the entry fee will be refunded up until 48 hours before the start of the show after which time there will be no refund. We regret no stabling charges can be refunded (other than in accordance with BS rules). Should any competition be cancelled because of bad weather or any reason, entry fees will be refunded, but it is regretted that stabling and other charges cannot be refunded.

2. PRIZE-GIVING Owners of winning horses are most welcome to come into the arena for the presentation of awards. This applies to all rings.

3. TIMETABLE AND CLASS LISTS The revised timetable and class lists will be available the night before. Riders whose horses are not stabled at Hickstead are strongly advised to check the Hickstead website www.hickstead.co.uk after 8pm for revised times.

4. VEHICLES The Executive reserves the right to remove any vehicle which is obstructing any access to or from the ground even if locked and unattended and the Executive will not be liable for any injury, loss or damage occasioned by such removal.

5. MOTORBIKES AND BICYCLES In the interests of safety of competitors and members of the public, the riding of bicycles, motor cycles, mopeds, etc., is FORBIDDEN anywhere on the Hickstead Showground. Anybody contravening this rule will be sent off the showground.

6. FIRE PRECAUTION The County Fire Officer of West Sussex has ordered that all horseboxes and caravans parked in the Stable Field must carry a fire extinguisher. You may be asked to leave if you do not have one.

7. STABLING All stabling will be on the ground in either permanent or hired boxes. Stabling will be made available for the period of the show only at £145 inc. VAT per box. No single night bookings will be taken. No horses or persons may come on the showground before 10am on Tuesday, 22nd June. Due to fire regulations, it is regretted that straw is banned from the Stable Field. Stables may not be bedded down in advance. Extra shavings, hay and forage can be purchased in the Stable Field on a daily basis. Due to the escalating cost of muck removal, exhibitors will be charged £6 per stable to go towards the cost of this service. Exhibitors are expected to leave their stables in a clean state - failure to do so may result in future expulsion from Hickstead. No horses or ponies may be kept in lorries overnight. Exhibitors who have not booked stabling will not be admitted to the Stable Field until the day of their competition. 8. HORSEBOXES It is a requirement to put your mobile telephone number on your horsebox pass which must be displayed in the windscreen. It is prohibited for any exhibitor or associate to interfere with another exhibitor’s horsebox.

9. DOPE TESTS BEFAR reserve the right to take random “dope” tests on horses and ponies in any class held at the All England Jumping Course. These tests will be carried out in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of BEFAR.

10. CARAVANS AND LIVED-IN HORSE BOXES Exhibitors with generators on their horseboxes must turn them off by 10.00pm. The Stable Field Security will strictly enforce this ruling. Exhibitors who fail to comply will be asked to leave the showground.

11. PRIZE MONEY/RETURNED CHEQUES In order to be honoured, prize money cheques must be cashed within 6 months of issue date. Failure to do so will result in loss of prize money.

12. ANY COMPETITOR found riding in the ring without permission will be disqualified from the show and reported to the Stewards of British Showjumping. All warming up must be done in the area provided. No one is allowed on the showground in the evenings or up to an hour before the first class in the morning. Any person riding their horses anywhere other than in the permitted areas will be subject to disciplinary action by the Executive and may be ordered off the showground.

13. THE EXECUTIVE may in any dispute or other matter whatsoever, act or decide in any manner they think fit (saving BS rules). All objections and complaints must be made in writing and accompanied by a deposit £100 under British Showjumping Rule 198.

Please read carefully the General Rules and Regulations. Any person coming to Hickstead or involved in any aspects of the meeting is deemed to be bound by the General Rules and Regulations and all indemnities and undertakings required.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

The following guidance has been set in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors to the Al Shira’aa Jumping Championships at Hickstead from 23rd – 27th June. Please ensure that COVID-19 government guidelines with regard to social distancing are strictly adhered to at all times; do not gather in groups and please observe the 2m rule whenever possible.

Entries

All entries must be made in advance using our online system, www.equilive.uk. The cut off for any new entries is 48 hours before the first day of competition. Changes to existing entries can be made up to 5pm the day before competition. The Show Office will be closed to competitors, and all contact will be through designated shielded windows. No Day Tickets. We will be maintaining records of all visitors to support the NHS Test and Trace, so please ensure that the Covid contact tracing form is completed when entering online.

Stabling

Due to the current restrictions, all stabling must be booked with entries, AND NO LATER THAN THE CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES. We will operate a waiting list after this date. Weekly stabling only. There will be no refunds on stabling after the closing date - no reselling of stables will be allowed, but if you contact the Hickstead office we will do our best to resell. No subletting for unused nights. Stables will not be bedded down, but shavings will be available to purchase on site or you can bring your own.

Parking

On arrival at the show, all entries will be checked at the gate. No admittance to anyone not on the start list. No exception. Parking attendants will allocate a parking slot in accordance with social distancing regulations (minimum of 5m between each slot). Tacking up must take place within your designated parking area. Riders may be accompanied by one other person, plus one owner (or two if from the same household) per horse entered. No cars will be admitted to the Stable Field, and no spaces can be saved for friends. If you want to park horseboxes together, you need to arrive together!

The 2Plan Wealth Arena will be divided into three separate warm-ups, and Equine America Ring 3 and Coldstream Equestrian Ring 4 will both have their own warm-ups. Numbers in all warm-up arenas will be restricted as per current BS guidelines. The warm up will be monitored by a steward/marshal to ensure that all riders adhere to these restrictions at all times. This steward/marshal will be available to help riders with practice fences if required.

The Competition

The competition will be delivered ‘behind closed doors’ without spectators. Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to during course walks. Please do not touch fences or poles. Horses will jump at 2 minutes per horse. One competitor to be in the ring at any one time. Horses to cool down whilst walking back on the horse walks. Designated cool down areas will be provided near the river. Practice arenas not to be used for cool down. Please return to designated parking area or stable to untack. No prize-giving will take place in the outside arenas. Results will be posted online.

Venue

Hand sanitiser will be available at key points around the venue. Catering outlets we will be offering a takeaway service. Indoor bars and restaurants will operate a one way system to place orders, with eating areas outside. Toilets will have enhanced sanitising/hand sanitisers/soap with hot running water and hand towels. No hand driers will be used. Please use the toilet and shower facilities in your own horsebox wherever possible. Showers will only be opened if regulations allow.
