You are going to become an expert of a rainforest plant or . You are going to adopt a plant or animal and conduct research that will allow the other students to in our class to also learn about your unique plant or animal. Your poster will include the following areas: habitat, physical characteristics, food and enemies, life cycle, unique characteristics, and a picture.

1st paragraph: HABITAT • What type of home does this animal or plant exist in? • Which layer of the rain forest does the animal or plant live in? • What animals or plants surround your plant or animal? • What makes your animal or plant able to survive in this type of habitat?

2nd paragraph: PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS • How does the plant or animal look? • How does the plant or animal move? • What kind of markings or coloring does the plant or animal have? • Does offspring resemble parents? • At what time of year does your animal have offspring? OR • What time of the year does your plant flower or produce fruit?

3rd paragraph: FOOD AND ENEMIES • What does your plant or animal eat? • Where does it find its food? • Who preys on your plant or animal?

4th paragraph: LIFECYCLE • Explain the lifecycle of your animal or plant.

5th paragraph: UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS • List anything unique or different about the animal or plant, including any other interesting information or facts about the animal or plant.

6. BORDER – On the left side of your poster you are going to design a border that would fit the uniqueness of your animal or plant. Find some unique characteristic that could be used in a design.

7. PICTURE OF YOUR ANIMAL OR PLANT– Draw and color a picture of your animal or plant. Paste it on the poster board.

REMINDER:

1. Use the diagram below to set up your poster. 2. You have been given a plant or animal. You need to gather information about your plant or animal. 3. Collect the information you need to answer the questions above. 4. Make sure that you have a topic sentence that lets your reader know what each paragraph is about. 5. Check your report for complete sentences, organized paragraphs, spelling, and punctuation. 6. Final Copy: All your information will be typed on the computer, cut out and glued onto your poster board. 7. The border design will be drawn directly on the poster board. It would be a good idea to draw your border design on a scrap paper before you draw it on the poster.

Animal Poster Directions Final Draft due and poster due: May 19th 1. Your final product should be placed on a 22” by 14” white poster board.

2. The typed paragraphs of your report should be glued on the poster board following the diagram below.

3. The border design should measure over 1½ inches from the left hand side of the poster board. Follow the diagram below.
