OLD ROSE BIBLIOGRAPHY Compiled by Pamela Ashworth Puryer Annotated by J. Conrad Tips Edited by Margaret P. Sharpe, Editor 1992 PART I Earl Coleman Reprints We begin with the Earl Coleman reprints of favorite rose information sources of the 18th to the 20th centuries. Happily, these are still available. A lengthy listing of works unavailable would be useless as we do not have distinguished horticultural libraries at our command. • Vortragsreihe Rosenverwandtschaften

Di has been doing a lot for me over many years as I am completely computer illiterate. Di has contacts all over the world and has received articles from most of our member countries for our excellent twice yearly bulletin. Since 1968 with the formation of the W.F.R.S. in London organised by Baronne Lili De Gerlach de Gomery, we have had seventeen conferences worldwide, of these I have attended fi fteen. The most recent was in Sandton, South Africa and the next will be in Lyon, France, 2015.

Internship Program Reports. 7. https://repository.upenn.edu/morrisarboretum_internreports/7 An independent study project report by The Charles C. An Evaluation and Interpretation of the Roses in the Rose Garden Abstract This project aims to assist current and future rosarians in evaluating the roses in the Morris Arboretum’s Rose Garden. This will be accomplished by updating the current Rose Garden database and researching the histories of selected roses. An updated database, plus the monthly evaluations of the roses, will allow for the determination of the best performing roses for this area. The histories will serve to highlight the importance of the Rose Garden and Rosa as a genus. Acknowledging the lack of consolidated information about the Rose Garden available to the public, this need will also be addressed. A website for the Rose Garden will be created for use by the public. A self-guided tour will also be created and posted on the Rose Garden website to encourage visitors to see the entirety of the Rose Garden. As a final product, interpretive metal photo labels will be created to be placed in front of the ten roses.

  • Newsletter 89 July 2003
The Newsletter of the IRISH GARDEN PLANT SOCIETY ISSUE NO. 89 JULY 2003 E d i t o r i a l Dear Members, The Annual General Meeting weekend was a most successful event. Those of you who have not attended one of these weekends should keep the first weekend in June of next year free for this event. The background work and excellent organisation of the committee members of the Northern Area group ensured we all enjoyed ourselves. I’m sure the other members will not resent my giving particular praise to Patrick Quigley for his work over this weekend. He was the one to ask for information and advice and he gave of his time both generously and good humouredly. I haven’t heard a lot from him since and wonder if he has recovered yet. A special thanks also to the members who welcomed us into their gardens. This was much appreciated. A full account follows in the newsletter. It is sad to report the loss of a gardening great and Graham Stuart Thomas was certainly one of those. His death in April of this year was indeed a loss to the gardeners of these islands but his thoughts live on in his many excellent books. Charles Nelson, friend of GST over many years has penned a fitting tribute to him for the newsletter. Paddy Tobin, Editor. July 2003 In this Issue AGM Report - Reports on the AGM itself and on the garden visits of the weekend Surely One of Nature’s Gentlemen - Charles Nelson pens a tribute to Graham Stuart Thomas Well Worth a Read - Book Review of GST’s Three Gardens Lissadell - Dr.
