IAG Cargo launches new direct route to Pittsburgh

IAG Cargo has announced the introduction of a new direct service to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From April 2, 2019, the service will run year-round, four times a week from London Heathrow and will be the only direct flight from the UK to Pittsburgh.

The new route brings the total number of IAG Cargo-operated US gateways to 26. The Pittsburgh route will be operated by the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with a cargo payload of up to 14 tonnes per flight.

Camilo Garcia, Director of Sales, Marketing and Products, IAG Cargo, said: “Pittsburgh is home to thriving technology, robotics and healthcare industries and the new route will provide easy access to customers from the UK and beyond. This addition builds on our strong entry points into the US and will use the newest aircraft in our fleet, the Boeing 787- 8. We’re proud to add Pittsburgh to our network of over 350 destinations globally.”

Flights from London Heathrow will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. With Pittsburgh’s export-oriented advanced industries including health services, manufacturing, and technology seeing growth rates of nearly double the rate of Pittsburgh’s overall private sector growth in recent years, we anticipate the new Pittsburgh route will support these industries by carrying products such as pharmaceuticals and machinery parts.
