Sponsored by the Men of St John’s & the Knights of Columbus

A pandemic is sweeping the nation...the world. Thousands have died...Devastating fires, triggered by innumerable lightning strikes, rip through the forests and homes of northern California...Hurricane season bodes fierce winds and flood-surge destruc- tion...Thugs rampage in the streets of many cities--including Minneapolis, Portland, St. Louis, Chicago, Seattle, New York, Philadel- phia, and, most recently, Kenosha-- smashing, setting fires, beating, killing, looting, for joy and profit, and the media responds ane- mically, deceptively, referring to the thugs simply as “protestors.” Statues of saints are being torn down. Churches are being set- afire. Priests are being attacked. Where it is not ignored or bypassed, the Catholic faith is attacked and ridiculed. Fear and hatred press upon the hearts of many of us...Abortion...Family Dissolution...Pornography...

What is the meaning of all this? What is God telling us? How many of us are even speaking to Him about it? We--Men of St. John and the Knights of Columbus--think these are matters that we need to pray about, to ask Our Lord and Our Lady for restoration of public order, faith, morality, and amity among peoples.

Please join us every other Thursday evening, starting September 3rd, at 7:00 p.m., in the Mary Garden, immediately east of the Church, where we will pray the Rosary for the well-being of our families, our Church, our nation, and ourselves. Afterwards, we will gather for fellowship and good conversation, enriched by liquid refreshments and snacks. Please join us.

The Men of St. John’s & Knights of Columbus Council 8002 CATHOLICS FOR LIFE

Prayer Before an Election

Almighty God, Lord of Life and King of all Nations, we beg you to look kindly upon our country and help us to choose wisely our new leaders. Inform our conscience and enlighten our judgment, that we may elect those who will mercifully uphold justice and strive to protect the least among us. Help us to discern which candi- dates will uphold both the letter and the spirit of the law. May our nation once again respect religious free- dom, authentic marriage, the importance of family and the value of every human life – from conception to death. Heal the division that wounds our unity and help us to overlook political tensions that keep us from becoming a united force for good. May our great land, built on both personal responsibility and charity to- wards the less fortunate, always balance prosperity with care for the elderly, the poor, the sick and the aban- doned. May we elect honest and trustworthy candidates who will always uphold the common good and pro- tect our God-given rights. In concert with the great founders of our nation may we confidently proclaim, “In God we trust”. Amen
