BCause Foundation is an expert organisation, a recognised leader with more than 20 years of experience at national and international level (since 1995) We offer people and companies a choice of causes that are important to them, safe and easy mechanisms for donating (money, effort and time) and satisfaction from the benefits for the society. We focus donor resources and contribute to the financial and organisational strengthening of civil organisations and public institutions such as schools, public libraries, museums and parKs. We promote and support charitable causes. We help donors and social entrepreneurs with customized services with high added value. We influence giving policies and culture and social investment through research, government consulting, promotion of best practices and special communication projects. We actively worK for achieving advance on the Sustainable Development Goals of the Global Compact. Memberships BCause Foundation is a member of Transnational Giving Europe, Euclid NetworK, Global Social Enterprise NetworK, and an associate member of the CAF Global Alliance. In Bulgaria BCause is a founding member of the Bulgarian Donors' Forum, the UN Global Compact and the Bulgarian NetworK, Social Enterprise Forum in Bulgaria and a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum, the Civil Participation Forum and the British- Bulgarian Business Association (BBBA). BCause Foundation was founded on 16th November 1995. Registration number № 20021107001 in the Central register for legal entities with nonprofit aims worKing in public benefit. 4 2019 Annual Report of BCause Foundation INTRODUCTION 2019 was a year of hard work and increased results in all areas of work of the foundation. More money received. More visibility. More support for children, young people, the elderly people, and enterpreneurs. More confidence that giving is becoming part of everyday life of people in Bulgaria and that many people trust our experience and expertise, the causes we support and the user-friendly instruments our hard-working team provides them with. The stories of the year are numerious. The incredible women from #Forthegood who managed to be active here and now with their mission and three campaigns for improving the hospital environment, before the Covid-19 crisis struck us and the whole of Bulgaria learnt about their superpowers. For the recepies from yet another “Summer for Joy, Autumn for Care”: for fish soup, for pain relief or for business, that will help you stay where you were born. The children of Tutrakan gave us the fish soup recipy, the old women from Valkosel received the pain relief recipies from the doctors, and the business recipies smelled of tahini, flowers and hand-made soap. For the regular donations, so vital to the NGOs but also to us, donors, so that we can feel sterling in our everyday lives. That’s why we want to thank our regular donors of small, but regular amounts through the DMS 17777 monthly subsripctions, as well as the new payroll donors from Sofia to Troyan – this year they also supported new causes. For the companies who transferred their employees engagement online to the companies’s pages at platformata.bg. For the anniversary of the CAF World Giving Index, which demonstrates that our hope is rooted in young people. On a different note, that was Rinker’s year. The center, founded at BCause Foundation, dedicated to entrepreneurship and sustainable growth. This year many dreams were shared with us. Hundreds of them, to be more precise. Its condition is an indicator of whether local ecosystems are developing sustainably or are in a degradation phase. The purpose of the present study is to analyze the vegetation cover dynamics within the small bulgarian municipality of Satovcha (41°72'-41°75' N; 23°89'-24°11' E) in the last one year. For this purpose, based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), the territory of the study area is classified according to the quantity of vegetation cover. Four vegetation classes are separated – sparse, light, medium and heavy one. The study include data from 2 satellite imagery obtained from Landsat 8 missions for the period of time July 1, 2018 - July 4, 2019. The results obtained in the course of the study show negative changes in the vegetation cover, which affect the ancient forests located on the territory of the municipality. Abstract: The Western Rhodopes (8732 km2) encompass vast forested areas and transborder mountain ridges up to 2191 m a.s.l between Bulgaria and Greece. The paper outlines all published herpetofaunal data for Bulgarian and Greek Western Rhodopes and supplements many original records. The herpetological diversity is remarkably high: 12 species of amphibians (4 tailed and 8 anurans) and 27 species of reptiles (2 tortoises, 2 terrapins, 12 lizards and 11 snakes). Altogether 34 species were found in the Bulgarian part, 32 were proved for the Greek part of the mountain. Two species of snakes, Typhlops vermicularis and Zamenis situla are considered extinct for the studied region. The most common and abundant amphibians are Salamandra salamandra, Rana temporaria, Rana graeca and Bufo bufo. The most widespread reptiles are Podarcis muralis, Lacerta viridis, Anguis fragilis, Natrix natrix and Coronella austriaca. Brief zoogeographical analysis and distribution maps for the majority of the species are provided. Herpetological conservation issues and threats are also discussed. The karst in the study area has a limited spatial distribution, but despite this fact, it is extremely diverse. The population with its number, de- mographic and social characteristics, its economic activity, indirectly influences the evolution of the karst. The current ongoing processes of depopulation, aging and migratory mobility of the population have been analyzed in the paper. The demographic and social characteris- tics of the population have been studied through calculation of indicators which describe the demographic structures, thus allowing the disclosure of a number of features that determine both the current state and the future development trends of the local population. The negative demographic processes occurring in the Dabrash karst area, are less manifested in compar- ison to Blagoevgrad district and the country as a whole. The most significant demographic problems in the area are the declining birth rates, the reduction of the number of young and working-age population, the emigration and the low level of education of the local population. These processes will have an increasing negative impact in the future, both on the demograph- ic situation and on the overall sustainable development of the area.
