It was a proud moment for the art centre and a huge step for the fashion industry. Launching a collection on an Indigenous platform brought new-found attention--Vogue Australia reported on the event for the first time.

This break out moment for Mangkaja, which has spearheaded a new wave in the continued trajectory of the Indigenous Australian fashion movement, has been in development for many years. Mangkaja’s board of directors had long been thinking about fashion before Gorman was considered.
