FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR Frankfurt, Germany October 4-8, 2006
As the largest book fair in the world, and the overseas show that Combined Book Exhibit has been attending the longest, the 2006 Frankfurt Book Fair was another huge success.
With almost 400 books from over 300 publishers, the Combined Book Exhibit represented a large and very visible area within the designated space of our sister company, American Collective Stand. 2006 was the busiest year at Frankfurt for CBE in recent history.
Grabbing the attention of almost every visitor to Hall 8, the English language hall, most of the books on display were extensively reviewed by attendees. Our staff received more hotline forms (inquiries to publishers about their books that are then emailed to the publisher) than ever before. All of the exhibiting companies in attendance were pleased by not only the quantity, but also the quality of inquiries and visitors.
Every year, Frankfurt attendees seem to be drawn to certain books, and each year that focus changes. This year, business and management books received a lot of the attention, leading to many of the hotline forms filled out. Through Combined Book Exhibit, these publishers have extended their audience and their base to include exposure for possible translation rights and to many new worldwide venues.

By the show’s close, 100% of Combined Book Exhibit’s catalogues were given out and kept by attendees for further review. Every catalogue, arranged alphabetically by publisher, included complete publisher contact information, and complete title information for every work submitted. All of this information is also stored on Combined Book Exhibit’s database website (cbedatabase.com), where it is accessed by often by people around the world.
As to be expected, Combined Book Exhibit will be attending the Frankfurt Book Fair again in 2007. With each year better than the year before, 2007 looks to be the strongest in CBE’s long history in Frankfurt. Combined Book Exhibit will also be showcasing in Beijing, China, as well as at the London Book Fair where it will conduct the overseas debut of its now annual Bookexpo America tradition, the New Title Showcase.
