Weaving Words Sharon Temple Storytelling Festival Calling All Storytellers

Weaving Words, Sharon Temple Storytelling Festival will be taking place on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sharon Temple National Historic Site & Museum in Sharon, .

Our festival is a celebration of storytelling : an exploration of how sharing stories can take us one step closer to understanding who we are. The beautiful Sharon Temple National Historic Site and the story of its founders, , pioneers and storytellers, who created a culturally vibrant community in the early wilderness will be the backdrop for an exciting one-day festival featuring storytellers from across Ontario.

We are looking for professional storytellers - word, poetry, music, dance, drama or puppetry — who are interested in telling stories dealing with the following topics:

History - the ; the Rebellion of 1837; the Children of Peace, pioneers, stories about familial, fictional or famous figures of the past. New Beginnings – departures and arrivals, overcoming hardship or adversity, stories about creativity, resourcefulness, inspiration, healing. Celebrating You, Celebrating Me - stories about culture, ethnicity, gender, age, family, uniqueness. Myths and Legends - local, Canadian, world cultures, archetypal.

Tellers will be paid $200 - $250 for 50 minutes of performance time. Reasonable costs for travel may be accommodated.

Please submit your proposal clearly identifying your topic and intended audience (children, adults, fami- lies, general etc.) along with a 150 – 200 word biography about yourself. Include your weblink if you have one. Make sure to include your contact information—mailing address, phone number and email address.

Submissions must be received by April 30, 2012. You will be contacted by email to confirm that your submission has been received. Final decisions will be made by May 15, 2012.
