Salomon Leads US World Cross-Country Team

Salomon is pleased to announce, that it is the not only the most prevalent equipment choice for US athletes selected to the 2007 US World Championship Cross-Country Ski Team but also the only manufacturer with three athletes choosing its entire Ski, Boot, and Binding system.

Veteran Subaru Factory Team athlete and 2002 & 2006 Olympian Lars Flora will be competing in his second World Championships. Lars recently won his third National Championship title, when he and Subaru Factory Teammate Chad Giese won the Team Sprint in Houghton, MI January 7th .

Caitlin Compton joined Team CXC this past summer after two years with the Subaru Factory Team. She has showed that this centralized training system, and continued Salomon support, are exactly what she needed to become a favorite in the US’s SuperTour series and a National Champion. This is Compton’s first World Championship team.

Compton’s CXC teammate Laura Valaas has displayed a level of dominance in the US SuperTour that has been nothing short of impressive. The US Ski Team’s Kikkan Randall, (APU, Salomon Athlete Force) is the only women to have beaten Valaas in this season’s sprint competitions. Valaas and Randall will compose a formidable sprint duo the 2007 World Championship Team.

US Ski Team athletes Andy Newell and Chris Cook are longtime Salomon athletes who to make history at this World Championships in the sprint competitions. Newell, produced the first U.S. top-3 in World Cup racing since 1983 a year ago and currently ranked third in the world sprint standings.
