6 Four Members of the Atlanta Blaze Named to All-Star Team Four members of the Atlanta Blaze professional outdoor lacrosse team will participate in 's (MLL) All-Star Game, Thursday, June 28, 7:30 p.m. at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass. Attackman Kevin Rice, long-stick midfielder Scott Ratliff and face-off specialist Joe Nardella were named as MLL All Stars. Rookie midfielder Austin Sims, who will be in town for MLL's rookie symposium, also will suit up with the team. The 30 all-stars were selected utilizing head coach and general manager ballots.

Ratliff, who has now been selected to participate in the all-star game for four consecutive seasons, said he was really excited to be named to the team this year.

"This really speaks to the coaches and the teammates that we have around us," Ratliff said. "They are the ones that put us in a position to be successful." Ratliff leads all MLL defenders in ground balls with 36 in seven games.

Rice, who is currently second in the league in both points and assists, was named to the team for the third straight season. He, too, was more focused on the Blaze business at hand.

"While it's always appreciated to be recognized amongst your peers, at this time we are entirely concerned with getting back in the win column against Chesapeake on Saturday night," Rice said.

Nardella made the team for the second year in a row. In two games since being acquired from the Boston Cannons, Nardella has won 43-of-76 faceoffs and has two goals and two assists for Atlanta.

"To be recognized by the league as an all-star is a great honor," Nardella said. "It is a testament to playing with great teammates and being surrounded by a lot of influential people in my life."

Sims, a rookie from Princeton University, has played in two games for the Blaze and has scored two goals.

The MLL All Stars, which includes Will Manny, Kieran McArdle, Sergio Perkovic and the 2018 Tewaarton Award winner from Yale, Ben Reeves, will face Team USA, the team which will participate in the 2018 FIL Championships in Netanya, Israel, July 12-21.

Team USA's roster also is filled with players from MLL rosters, such as Rob Pannell (New York), Tom Schreiber (Ohio), Jordan Wolf (Dallas), (Chesapeake), Drew Snider (Denver), Trevor Baptiste (Boston) and Michael Erhardt (Charlotte).
