Learning about the Eagles ... 2020 St. Edward BATTLE-TESTED: If anyone in Northeast Ohio has been through the wringer in the first few weeks of the season, it’s St. Edward. Schedule The Eagles played one of the top teams in Ohio in Massillon 8/28 @ Massillon W, 24-23 Washington to start the season before facing current Cleve- Washington land.com #1 team Archbishop Hoban and #3 Mentor. Without a doubt, Eagles have one of the toughest schedules in Northeast Ohio in this shortened season. 9/5 vs. Archbishop L, 0-35 THE MEN OF RAMOS: The St. Edward offense has a new quar- Hoban terback this season in Christian Ramos. The junior has experi- enced the ups and downs common for any young quarterback, but has led the Eagles to a 2-1 record. Through 3 games, Ramos has 206 yards and 3 TDs on the ground, with 83 yards and 1 TD 9/11 @ Mentor W, 28-24 through the air. Ramos will look to avoid mistakes on Saturday, as he’s thrown six interceptions in three games. 9/19 @ Saint Ignatius WATKINS AND ENOVITCH ATTACK: Malachi Watkins and Daniel Enovitch have been the Eagles’ 1-2 punch at running back this FirstEnergy Stadium season. Watkins is tied for the team lead with Ramos for carries with 41, but trails his QB in yardage with 188. Enovitch has 145 yards on 31 carries. As a team, the Eagles average 4.6 yards per 9/26 vs. Bishop Sycamore carry.

GROUND AND POUND EAGLES: The Eagles have utilized a run-heavy approach this season. Through 3 games, St. Edward 10/2 @ Benedictine has called 117 run plays and 30 passes, running the ball 79.5% of the time. St. Edward’s approach has worked for two wins this season, including a come-from-behind win over Mentor.

THE HANKINS SHOW: C.J. Hankins is the heart and soul of the St. Edward defense. The 5’11, 220-pound linebacker roams the field like like a lion, ready to pounce on opposing ballcarriers. The Wildcats will need to keep an eye on Hankins all day.
