Vision Trip to and South : A Mission to Rebuild Hope for Refugees

June 20-July 1, 2017

The Outreach Foundation has made a long-term commitment to mission in South Sudan in partnership with the Presbyterian Church of South Sudan. A key component to our commitment is to visit our friends regularly. Unfortunately, the three-year civil war has prevented us from visiting South Sudan for two of the last three years. So we show up where the people are. At this time several million South Sudanese are in refugee camps outside of South Sudan, and that is where we will be going from June 20-July 1.

This year’s trip will focus on a cluster of refugee camps in the Gambella Region of Western Ethiopia. Trip leaders will be two Sudanese from Sudanese churches in the U.S. and two Outreach Foundation staff. As in the past two years, our partner church in Ethiopia, the Mekane Yesus Church, will assist us in reaching out to South Sudanese brothers and sisters, as they are already engaged with them in many supportive ways.

It will not be a trip for the faint-hearted. We will see conditions and hear testimonies that will break our hearts. We will also see signs of hope in the camps as we see faithful Christians serving their own people. Our aim is that by going to the camps we will encourage them to persevere in hope for a future for their country.

The estimated cost is $3,500 for international air, visa, room, board, and internal travel. For trip application write Mrs. Lisa Dill, [email protected], or call her at (615)-778-8881. For questions about the itinerary, write Jeff Ritchie, [email protected] or call him at (615)-403-1444. Deadline to apply for the trip is March 20, 2017.
