On Tap: Heading to the Hatters The Owls will head back out on the road Tuesday. FAU will face off with Stetson Uni- versity in Deland, Fla. in a 7 p.m. tip. The Hatters are currently 0-4 on the season, with losses to Emmanuel College, Miami, Florida and USF. Stetson is scheduled to face Florida College Thursday.

FAU and Stetson have not faced off on the hardwood since 2014.

Stetson leads the all-time series with FAU by a tally of 18-16. The Owls are 5-11 on the road vs. the Hatters. This will be the second game for FAU against an Atlantic Sun Conference opponent after facing UNF earlier this week.

In his first two seasons, the Owls posted back-to-back winning records for the first time since 2007. He is the first FAU head men’s basketball coach to open his tenure with back-to-back winning records and the first Owl bench leader to post consecutive winning seasons since 1992.

May joined FAU after three years as an assistant at the University of Florida, where he helped the Gators compile a 69-37 record, including back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight in 2017. As a full-time assistant, May’s helped his teams compile a 274-166 record (.623 win percentage).

May spent the seven seasons prior to his tenure at FAU on the coaching staffs of , first at Louisiana Tech for four seasons and then with the Gators. On The Radio Ken LaVicka is entering his 14th season broad- casting FAU basketball. After calling select games in 2007, he become the full-time basketball “voice” in 2009. He took on the same full-time title with Owls’ football in 2011, with the 2020 campaign marking his 12th season.

FAU contests are broadcast on Fox Sports 640AM throughout South Florida.

LaVicka is co-host on West Palm Beach- based ESPN 106.3’s popular daily program Josh Cohen & The HomeTeam (Mon-Fri, 3-5p). A former newspaper sports writer, Ken graduated from Valparaiso University before coming to South Florida. He lives in Tamarac, Florida with his wife Vivianne, his two daughters Adaline & Alianna and his dog Howard, who is named after Howard Schnellenberger.
