Annuals

1) Abutilon ‘Biltmore Ball Gown’ and ‘Fairy Queen’ are the 2 varieties of flowering maple we offer for 2016. ‘Biltmore’ has eye catching, unusual , and striped blooms that dangle in the wind. It is an heirloom plant from the Biltmore House and makes an impressive specimen plant reaching to 4 feet. ‘Fairy’ has lovely coral blooms hanging in and around deep foliage and grows to 2 feet. Both are loved by hummingbirds. 2) Alternanthera ‘ Rum’ PP#21016 is an upright Joseph’s Coat with bronze foliage with bright splotches. It grows to 18” and is amazing in the landscape. 3) Angelonia ‘Serenita® Lavender Pink’ is a variety we got to try last year. The ‘Serenitas®’ are more controlled and a bit smaller than their sister mates, the ‘Serenas®’. ‘Lavender Pink’ has rich pink flowers with a touch of lavender. It will bloom all summer and grow to 14”. 4) Begonia (Elatior) ‘Cottage ’ is a begonia we got by accident but we really liked. The fully double blooms are surrounded by deep green foliage. This shade loving begonia does well in pots and baskets. 5) Begonia (tuberous) ‘Nonstop® Joy Yellow™’ is a new tuberous begonia with the same bloom power as the other Nonstop® family members but with a much better habit for baskets and combination plantings. Availability is limited. 6) Bidens ‘Campfire™ Fireburst’ is a new bidens from Proven Winners® with two-tone reddish orange and yellow flowers. ‘Fireburst’ is easy to grow in sunny places with no need to deadhead for near continuous bloom all summer. Gardeners can expect it to grow up to 12” and it works well in combination plantings. 7) Bougainvillea ‘Flame’ is a new orange-red bougainvillea. We had a few last year in baskets and they were awesome. The plants were covered in blooms all spring. Grow them on the dry side with very little fertilize for best results. 8) Browallia ‘Endless™ Illumination’ has lots of small flowers throughout the summer on a neatly mounding plant. It is shade tolerant and we are hoping this will be another alternative for bedding impatiens which are being plagued by downy mildew. 9) Calibrachoa ‘MiniFamous™ Double Amethyst’ and ‘Double ’ have fully double blooms like their mates in this popular series. Both are rich and vibrant. 10) Calibrachoa ‘Superbells® Evening Star’, ‘Garden ’, and ‘Holy Moly’ are 3 new Superbells® for 2016. ‘Evening Star’ has wonderful lavender flowers with a yellow and dark star pattern and throat. ‘Garden Rose’ has rich rose pink flowers and ‘Holy Moly’ has unusual spotted yellow and cherry-red star patterned flowers. All are eye-catching and will add lots of to your garden. 11) Celosia ‘Dragon’s Breath’ is a new award winning celosia with dark red foliage and deep red plumes. The well branched plant has lots of large red plumes throughout the summer. It is stunning in the landscape. 12) Celosia ‘Fresh Look Yellow’ is a yellow plume celosia with clean, green foliage. The plants with their showy yellow plumes can reach 15”. 13) Coleus ‘Apple Brandy™’ and ‘Velveteen™’ are new to the Colorblaze® coleus line from Proven Winners®. ‘Apple Brandy™’ has chartreuse and brick red variegated leaves and ‘Velveteen™’ has foliage with pink centers. Both will up your combination pots or your flower beds. 14) Coleus ‘Kong Jr. ’ is a smaller version of the popular Kong® coleus. ‘Scarlet’ has deep burgundy red leaves with bright chartreuse margins. The leaves are 30% smaller than its larger cousin making it easier to handle but still producing the large colorful foliage. 15) Dipladenia ‘Rio™ ’ is part of the popular Rio™ family. It has bright white blooms with a yellow throat. It will bloom all summer and has excellent heat tolerance. 16) Fuchsia ‘Lisa’ has large, fully double blooms. The sepals are rose pink and the corollas are bluish- lavender. The trailing habit makes for a nice basket or window box. 17) Gomphrena ‘Lil’ Forest™ ’ and ‘Pinball™ Snow-tip Lavender’ are 2 new gomphrenas. Gomphrenas are versatile landscape plants blooming all summer with good drought tolerance. ‘Lil’ Forest™’ has an abundance of dark purple button flowers. ‘Snow-tip’ has bright purple blooms blushed white in the center and around the edges. Both grow to 18”. 18) Impatiens (Double) ‘Rockapulco Wisteria’ has lovely purple and white speckled rosebud type flowers. 19) Impatiens (Sunpatiens®) ‘Compact Neon Pink’, ‘Spreading Scarlet Red ’and ‘Spreading Tropical Orange’ are new additions to the popular line of Sunpatiens®. ‘Compact Neon Pink’ has bright, hot pink blooms, ‘Spreading Scarlet’ has scarlet red blooms that are slow to fade in the sun, and ‘Spreading Tropical Orange’ has brightly variegated foliage with rich orange blooms. Sunpatiens® have shown themselves to be good landscape plants blooming up to frost if cared for properly. 20) Lantana ‘Landmark™ Blaze’, ‘Landmark™ Rose Glow’ and ‘Lucky™ White’ are our 3 new introductions of lantana. ‘Blaze’ is a red, orange, and yellow blooming variety and ‘Rose Glow’ has lavender-pink and creamy yellow bicolored blooms. Both grow to 20”. ‘Lucky™ White’ is an upright white blooming variety reaching about 16”. All are tolerant of heat and other stressful conditions in the landscape. 21) Leonotis leonorus (Lion’s Ear) ‘Dwarf Orange’ is a smaller version than the original we have carried for years. This one grows 12-36” and does well as a specimen or in combination planters. The bright orange flowers resemble a lion’s mane when fully emerged. 22) Mandevilla ‘Summer Romance Vining Yellow’ has shiny, clean green foliage and yellow blooms all summer into fall. It is ideal for baskets or containers and hummingbirds love them. 23) Petunia ‘Glow Rose Stardust’ is an early flowering, deep rose-purple and white star petunia. Unusual colors make this a great choice. 24) Petunia (Supertunia®) ‘Pink Star Charm’ and ‘Violet Star Charm’ have cheery star patterned blooms. Both are bright, eye-catching plants that can be used in combination plantings or by themselves. 25) Petunia (Supertunia®) ‘Picasso in Blue™’ is a new addition to the Picasso petunias from Proven Winners®. It is brightly colored with the signature lime green edging around the blooms. 26) Petunia ‘Sweetunia Johnny Flame’ and ‘Sweetunia Orange Flash’ are 2 unusual petunias from Red Fox. ‘Johnny Flame’ is an eye-catching deep burgundy/hot pink bicolor and ‘Orange Flash’ is a hard to find orange petunia. Both have plenty of medium sized blooms and do well in containers and combination plantings. 27) Petunia ‘Easy Wave® Yellow’ is one of the latest colors of the Easy Wave® collection. Cheery yellow blooms cover the plants throughout the summer. 28) Salvia ‘Mojave Red’ is a scarlet sage that grows around 12”. ‘Mojave’ has attractive deep green foliage topped with red spikes through the summer. It has excellent heat tolerance for our area. 29) Verbena (Superbena®) ‘Sparkling Amethyst’ and ‘Sparkling ’ are both bicolor blooming verbenas. Amethyst is lavender-purple and white and Ruby is a ruby red and white bicolor. 30) Vinca ‘Victory Blue’ and ‘Victory Lavender’ are 2 new bedding vincas. ‘Blue’ is a purplish-blue with a white eye and ‘Lavender’ is a lavender-blue with a white eye. Both have large flowers on 10” plants. Hardy Ferns 1) Japanese Holly Fern (Cyrtomium falcatum ‘Rochfordi’) has glossy green foliage and a graceful habit. The evergreen, clumping fern grows to 30” and is hardy in zones 6-10. 2) Radiance™ Autumn Fern (Dryopteris erythrosora ‘Radiance’) is a new version of the popular Autumn Fern. The new spring foliage of ‘Radiance’ brightens the garden with beautiful , red and rose. The colorful foliage lasts for weeks before turning a deep green. It will grow to 30” and is hardy in zones 5-8.

Grasses & Grass-like Plants 1) Andropogon gerardii (Big Bluestem) is a native prairie grass that reaches 4-6 feet. Known to be easy to grow and adaptable, it is ideal for naturalizing and commercial landscapes. The foliage changes with the seasons turning a reddish bronze in the fall. The plumes appear in late summer and persist into fall. It is hardy in zones 4-9. 2) Liriope ‘Purple Explosion™’ PP#21352 is a new green monkey grass. It is a heavy bloomer with deep purple bloom spikes rising above compact mounding plants. It is hardy to zone 6. 3) Pennisetum ‘Cassian’ is dwarf fountain grass growing about 3 feet. It has nice fall color and is hardy in zone 6. 4) Pennisetum ‘First Knight’ PP#25515 is an annual fountain grass with deep, dark purple/ foliage. It can grow over 4 feet. It may be an annual, but it grows fast and performs well in the landscape.

Hemerocallis (Daylilies) 1) ‘Passionate Returns’ PP#20002, ‘Red Hot Returns’ PP#13499, and ‘When My Sweetheart Returns’ PP#13480 are 3 members of the popular ‘Happy Ever Appster®’ family. All 3 are early to mid-season with long bloom times and reliable re-bloom into fall. ‘Passionate’ has ruffled, fragrant, rose-red blooms. ‘Red Hot’ has brilliant cherry red blooms with an apple green throat and ‘Sweetheart’ has ruffled, peachy yellow blooms with a large pink eye. All 3 are heavy bloomers and excellent performers.

Edibles and Herbs

1) Cilantro/Coriander ‘Calypso’ is a new vigorous and high yielding variety that does well in our hot summers. Trials by several growers show ‘Calypso’ being as much as 3 weeks slower to bolt than ‘Santo’. 2) Dill ‘Compatto’ is a compact dill that is very flavorful and excellent for pickling. Since it grows only about 18”, it is suitable for container growing as well as in the ground. 3) Lavender angustifolia ‘Platinum Blonde’ PP#23834 is a boldly variegated variety with lavender- blue flowers in the summer. It is ideal for containers, borders and rock gardens. It is hardy in zones 6-9. 4) Lavender angustifolia ‘Ellagance Pink’ is a variety we had a few years ago. The fragrant, light pink blooms appear in the summer. The plants grow to 12” and the blooms are a lovely pink- lavender. 5) Lavender stoechas ‘Anouk Supreme’ PP#16685 and Anouk White’ PP#10173 are 2 new Spanish lavenders. ‘Anouk Supreme’ has purple blooms and ‘Anouk White’ has white and blue blooms. Both are hardy in zones 6-9. 6) Mint ‘Berries & Cream™’ and ‘Hillary’s Sweet Lemon’ are 2 new mints for 2016. ‘Berries & Cream™’ has dark green foliage with a fruity-mint flavor. ‘Hillary’s Sweet Lemon’ was developed from apple and lime mints. It has a sweet, fruity, spearmint-like taste with a hint of citrus. Both are ideal for teas, drinks, and desserts. 7) Oregano, Italian (Origanum) hails from the Mediterranean and is thought to be less showy than others and has a slightly milder flavor. It needs quick draining soil and is hardy to zone 5. Can be used fresh or dried. 8) Tomatillo (also known as Mexican Husk Tomato) ‘Toma Verde’ resembles small green tomatoes encased in husks. Tomatillos are popular in Mexican cooking and are a necessity in some authentic recipes. Hostas 1) ‘Brother Stefan’ is the 2017 Hosta of the Year. The heavily puckered leaves start out with chartreuse centers with blue margins then mature to gold surrounded by green margins. ‘Stefan’ grows to 20” and 24” when blooming. Available Summer 2016. 2) ‘Captain Kirk’ has wide, irregular, dark green margins with gold centers. A sport of ‘Gold Standard’, the foliage has good, heavy substance. This large hosta grows to 20” and 30” when in bloom. 3) ‘Happy Dayz’ is a sport of the popular ‘Orange Marmalade’. ‘Happy Dayz’ has better vigor with bigger blue-green margins around the golden yellow centers. It grows 18” and up to 32” when in bloom. Available April 2016. 4) ‘SunHosta™’ PPAF is a medium sized hosta with green leaves and white margins similar in appearance to Albo Marginata. ‘SunHosta™’ is much more sun tolerant than others, growing in full sun here in the Southeast. Fragrant, white flowers appear in the summer. 5) ‘Vulcan’ has heart-shaped leaves with dark green margins surrounding clean, white centers that persist through the summer. It is a sport of ‘Captain Kirk’ and the foliage grows to 22”. Irises 1) Iris (Dwarf Bearded) ‘Thrice Blessed’ is a fragrant, re-blooming, early season deep yellow variety that grows to 10”. 2) Iris (German/Bearded) ‘Best Bet’ is a variety we have carried for several years but haven’t had recently. This reliable re-bloomer is an early season bi-tone blue. 3) Iris (German/Bearded) ‘Feed Back’ has fragrant, ruffled medium blue-violet blooms. This reliable re-bloomer is an early to mid-season bloomer and grows to 36”. 4) Iris (German/Bearded) ‘Orange Harvest’ is a re-blooming, fragrant orange. It grows to 32” and is an early to mid-season bloomer. 5) Iris (German/Bearded) ‘Pink Attraction’ is a ruffled, fragrant, re-blooming pink. It grows to 30” and blooms early to mid-season. 6) Iris (German/Bearded) ‘Rosalie Figge’ is re-blooming, deep purple variety that has a sweet fragrance. It grows to 39” and is a mid-season bloomer. 7) Iris (German/Bearded) ‘Stellar ’ has blue-purple blooms with white splotches around the white beards. This mid to late re-bloomer grows to 36”. 8) Iris (Louisiana) ‘Cyclamint’ has ruffled, fuchsia-purple blooms atop strong, sturdy stems. It can grow to 36” and is hardy in zones 4-10. Perennials 1) Achillea millefolium ‘Song Siren™ Laura’ is a compact, floriferous yarrow with deep red blooms with white centers. The abundant bloom clusters rise above fern-like foliage during the summer. ‘Laura’ grows to 22” and is hardy in zones 4-9. 2) Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage™’ series is a collection of bold colored yarrows that grow into neat, tidy clumps with an abundance of flower heads. We offer the following varieties: ‘Red’, ‘Rose’, ‘Violet’, and ‘White’. The whole series has good color retention when blooming and only grows to 14”. They are hardy in zones 4-9. 3) Aethionema (Persian Candytuft) has evergreen foliage with various pink blooms. It resembles candytuft and it attracts honeybees. Low maintenance once established, it is ideal for rock gardens and low borders. It is hardy in zones 5-9. 4) Agastache aurantiaca ‘Coronado®’ is also known as Hummingbird Mint. The -green foliage has a pleasant minty aroma. Brilliant orange-red blooms appear mid-summer and attract hummingbirds. The plant can reach 30” and it is hardy in zones 5-8. 5) Agastache ‘Blue Boa’ PP#24050 and ‘Summer Love’ PP#20510 are Terra Nova introductions. ‘Blue Boa’ has dark violet-blue flower spikes and ‘Summer Love’ has reddish-purple flower spikes. Both are known for their large, showy flower displays that persist through the summer. Plants can reach 36” when in bloom and are hardy in zones 5-10. Established plants are drought tolerant and attract hummingbirds and butterflies. 6) Agave ‘Crème Brulee’ and ‘Frostbite’ are 2 new agaves. ‘Creme Brulee’ has large boat shaped gray-green leaves with wide cream margins and is only hardy to zone 9. ‘Frostbite’ has long, narrow, spiny leaves with striking green and yellow variegation and is hardy to zone 8. Both do well in dry, sunny places as well as in containers. Since they are not cold hardy here, they will need to be brought indoors through the winter months. 7) Ajuga ‘Catlin’s Giant’ is a vigorous bronze-purple leaved ajuga. The large leaves are topped with purple-blue blooms spikes in the spring. Does well in shady areas but doesn’t tolerate foot traffic well. 8) Aruncus dioicus (Goat’s Beard) is a native perennial we have offered off and on through the years. Resembling a very large astilbe, the white blooms appear late spring to early summer and is a wonderful specimen plant. Can grow to 5 feet and is hardy in zones 3-7. 9) Buddleias are popular choices for perennial gardeners as they are easy to grow, come in a variety of colors and sizes and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. We have 4 new ones this year. ‘Lo & Behold® Blue Chip Jr.’ is a smaller version of the popular ‘Blue Chip’. ‘Jr.’ stays under 3 feet and blooms earlier than the original. ‘Wisteria Lane’ PPAF is a new medium height, cascading variety with large, weeping, purple flower spikes. ‘Buzz™ Hot Raspberry’ has bright raspberry-pink bloom spikes. ‘Buzz™ Midnight’ has dark blue-purple blooms. The ‘Buzz™’ varieties grow to 4 feet. 10) Campanula medium (Canterbury Bells) ‘Cup and Saucer Mix’ is a colorful mix of rose, , white and blue double cupped flowers. They can grow to 30” when blooming in the spring. Treat as a biennial. 11) Clematis ‘Sweet Summer Love’ PP#24044 is a sweet autumn-type clematis introduced by Proven Winners®. This small flowering clematis has fragrant, cranberry-violet blooms that appear weeks earlier than the beloved sweet autumn. It blooms on new growth so it can be easily pruned back each year to maintain its shape. 12) Coreopsis verticillata ‘Cruizin Broad Street’ PPAF is a vibrant red and orange threadleaf coreopsis. ‘Broad Street’ grows to 18” and begins blooming early to mid-summer and is hardy in zones 5-8. 13) Corydalis elata is one we have had before but it has been awhile. It is one of the best varieties for the south. Fragrant, cobalt blue flowers emerge in the spring and persist until the summer months. It is reported to not go summer dormant and is hardy in zones 6-8. 14) Delosperma ‘Jewel of the Desert’ series has added new colors to their popular collection. We have added ‘Amethyst’, ‘Grenade’, ‘Opal’, and ‘Ruby’ PP#23453. ‘Amethyst’ has bright violet- pink blooms with eyes. ‘Grenade’ has scarlet red blooms with lavender centers. ‘Opal’ has eye- catching two-tone coral pinwheel blooms and ‘Ruby’ has bright centers surrounded by ruby red tips. All have compact, succulent foliage that hugs the ground and are hardy in zones in 5-9. All are patented or patent pending. 15) Dianthus ‘Shooting Star’ PP#16431 is part of the popular ‘Star™’ series. The magenta purple petals overlap giving the blooms a full robust look. Blooms are wonderfully scented like cloves. It blooms heavily in the spring and may re-bloom if deadheaded. It is hardy in zones 5-9. 16) Dianthus ‘EverLast™ Dark Pink’ PP#23362 is a double blooming pink dianthus with neat, compact foliage. It is early to bloom in the spring and may re-bloom in late summer/early fall when the nights cool down. It is hardy down to zone 5. Available in gallons only. 17) Echinacea ‘Adobe Orange’ PPAF, ‘Baja Burgundy’ PPAF, and ‘Lemon Yellow’ PP#24768 are new additions to the popular ‘Sombrero®’ line of coneflowers. They all boast vibrant colors and well- branched plants. Gardeners can expect blooms the first summer after planting. 18) Echinacea ‘Double Scoop™ Orangeberry’ PP#23145 is a fully double bright orange and red coneflower. The abundant flowers are slow to fade in the summer sun and it grows to 24”. 19) Eupatorium purpureum ssp. maculatum ‘Gateway’ is a large Joe Pye weed. The large mauve- pink blooms appear in the summer and are butterfly magnets. It can grow over 5 feet so give it room to grow. 20) Euphorbia characias ‘Tasmanian Tiger’ PP#15715 is a plant we have carried before. The boldly variegated spurge brightens up your garden with showy bloom bracts. It grows to 3’ and blooms appear mid-summer. It is hardy to zone 6 but must have good drainage. 21) Euphorbia x ‘Mini Martini’ PP#14579 is a compact green leaved spurge. Light green bloom bracts with red centers emerge in the spring. It is sun or shade tolerant and easy to grow. 22) Gaillardia ‘Sunset Mexican’ PPAF has bright yellow blooms with red centers. The showy blooms appear in the summer and it grows to 16”. 23) Gaura ‘Gaudi™ Red’ and ‘Little Janie’ PPAF are 2 new wand flowers for 2016. ‘Gaudi’ is a compact grower with dark red stems and rose-red blooms. The plant can grow to 16” and is a prolific bloomer. ‘Little Janie’ has a mass of pink and white bicolor blooms and grows to 18”. 24) Helleborus ‘Honeymoon™ Rome in Red’ is part of the Honeymoon™ collection from Walter’s Gardens. ‘Rome’ boasts 3-4” single, rich, dark, red flowers in late winter/early spring. Available Summer 2016. 25) Helleborus ‘Winter Jewels®’ series has several colors in the collection. We have added ‘Amethyst Glow’ (single, deep purple), ‘Apricot Blush’ (single, apricot with rose markings), ‘Cotton Candy’ (double pink), ‘Golden Sunrise’ (single, yellow with red accents), ‘Red Sapphire’ (double, rose red), and ‘Ruby ’ (single red with white stamens). This collection boasts large nodding blooms and unique colors. They are hardy in zones 5-8. 26) Heucherella ‘Redstone Falls’ PP#22394 is a trailing type of heucherella that does well in combination plantings or in the landscape. The foliage changes with the seasons becoming a deep bronze red with cool weather. We actually have had this one for a couple of years now, adding it to some of our combination planters. 27) Hydrangea (Pre-Budded/Forced) macrophylla ‘Cityline® Paris’ PP#10906 and ‘Let’s Dance® Blue Jangles®’ PPAF are mop-head types from Proven Winners®. These have been treated so that they will bloom this spring. ‘Paris’ has rich, vibrant cherry red blooms and ‘Blue Jangles’ has lovely lilac-blue blooms. Both can be planted in the garden after blooming and be treated like other macrophyllas. Both are compact growers, reaching to 3 feet and they are hardy down to zone 5. Like other macrophyllas, their bloom colors will change with the pH in your soil and they will bloom later in the season in subsequent years. 28) Hydrangea arborescens ‘Invincibelle Ruby’ PP#20765 is a new red flowering arborescens type hydrangea from Proven Winners®. The burgundy flowers buds open to reveal two-tone blooms of red and pink. It is a reliable re-bloomer and grows to 3 feet. Available May 2016. 29) Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Glowing Embers’ has huge mop-head flowers that start out white and eventually turn to pink then shades of deep reddish-purple. It is a compact variety reaching about 3 feet and is hardy in zones 6-9. 30) Hydrangea paniculata ‘Little Quick Fire’ PPAF is a smaller version of the popular ‘Quick Fire’ from Proven Winners®. The white blooms quickly age to a dark burgundy red. It grows to 5’ and can be grown in large patio planters as well as in the landscape. 31) Lagerstroemia (Crapemyrtle) ‘Barista™ Sweet Macchiato’ PPAF is a dark foliage, hot pink blooming variety that grows to 3 feet. The ‘Barista™’ collection has been bred for more cold tolerance - overwintering in West Michigan. It is hardy in zones 6-9 and blooms on new wood. 32) Lamium ‘Golden Anniversary’ PP#11783 is a variety we have brought back to our perennial line. It is most known for its beautiful yellow and green variegated foliage. Pinkish lavender blooms appear in the spring of each year. It is hardy in zones 4-8. 33) Leucanthemum superbum ‘Amazing Daisies™ Daisy May’ PP#21994, ‘Real Charmer’ PPAF, and ‘Whoops-a-Daisy’ PPAF are 3 Shasta daisies for 2016. ‘Daisy May’ has an abundance of 3” single white daisies in the summer. It can grow to 24” and is from Proven Winners®. ‘Real Charmer’ is part of the ‘Real’ collection. Lots of frilly, pale yellow petals surround the yellow center. It grows to 22” with strong stems that are suitable for cutting. ‘Whoops-a-Daisy’ is a Walter’s Garden introduction and is reported to be an improvement of the popular ‘Snowcap’. Growing to 15”, it has 3-4” white daisy blooms that cover the round, compact plant. 34) Lobelia speciosa ‘Starship Deep Rose’ is a first year flowering perennial lobelia developed by Kieft Seeds. The well branched plant boasts rich rose pink flower spikes during the summer. It can reach 24” and is hardy in zones 6-10. 35) Monarda didyma ‘Balmy™Purple’ PP#25561 and ‘Pardon my ’ PPAF are 2 new didyma type monardas for 2016. ‘Balmy’ is a free flowering, mildew resistant variety growing to 12”. It is covered in reddish purple blooms in the summer. ‘Cerise’ is a bushy, compact plant that is covered in large, dark cherry pink blooms in the summer. ‘Cerise’ is mildew resistant, grows to 18”, is hardy in zones 4-9, and is a Proven Winners® introduction. 36) Monarda hybrid ‘Leading Lady Plum’ PPAF is a hydrid monarda that flowers earlier than didyma types. The attractive dark green foliage gives way to magenta purple blooms in the summer. ‘Plum’ grows to 14” and is hardy in zones 4-9. 37) Papaver nudicaule ‘Garden Gnome’ is an Iceland Poppy containing a mixture of orange, red, and yellow blooms. It grows about 12” when blooming in the spring. 38) Passiflora x ‘Incense’ is a sweetly scented, purple passion flower vine. The large blooms appear in the summer and it is hardy to zone 7 (possibly 6). 39) Penstemon ‘Riding Hood Purple’ PP#23067 and ‘Rocky Candy™ Pink’ PPAF have been added to our penstemon offering for 2016. ‘Purple’ is part of the popular ‘Riding Hood’ series which is known for its long bloom time and abundant flowers. The dark purple flowers grace this compact plant during the summer. ‘Pink’ is a member of the ‘Rock Candy™’ family developed by Star Roses and Plants. This cheery pink bloomer grows to 12” and is ideal for border, beds, or containers. 40) Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Denim ’n Lace’ PPAF is a new compact Russian sage introduced by Proven Winners®. The strong stems support a multitude of sky blue flowers beginning mid- summer. It grows to 32” and is hardy in zones 4-9. 41) Phlox subulata ‘Purple Beauty’ is a purple blooming creeping phlox that performs similar to ‘Emerald Blue’ but with a darker bloom. It blooms in early spring and works well as a border or on slopes. 42) Phlox x hybrida ‘Paparazzi™’ varieties ‘Lindsay’ PP#22407 and ‘Miley’ (aka Amethyst) PP#23733 are 2 more members of the popular ‘Paparazzi™’ family. A new hybrid phlox with a long bloom time, it has subulata type blooms and foliage. ‘Lindsay’ has pink blooms and ‘Miley’ has pink-lavender blooms with a dark eye. They are hardy in zones 5-9. 43) Phygelius hybrid ‘Tye Dye’ varieties ‘Radiant Red’, ‘Rosy Cheeks’, and ‘Yellow Submarine’ are new for 2016. These are easy to grow but not commonly found in garden centers. They are very showy when blooming which starts late spring to early summer. They grow to about 12” and are hardy in zones 6-10. ‘Radiant Red’ is deep cherry red, ‘Rosy Cheeks’ has pink blooms and ‘Yellow Submarine’ has rich yellow blooms. All are PPAF. 44) Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Early Bird Gold’ PP#20286 is day length neutral so it blooms earlier than Goldsturm. The masses of small gold flowers appear early summer and persist for weeks. It grows to 24” and is hardy in zones 4-9. 45) Salvia greggii ‘Radio Red’ PPAF has long lasting true, bright red flowers beginning in the early summer. It grows to 18” and is hardy in zones 7-10. 46) Salvia microphylla x greggi ‘Heatwave Glitter’ PP#24152 has lilac blooms from late spring to fall. It grows to 30” and is heat and drought tolerant once established. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies and is hardy in zones 6-9. We had this one a couple of years ago and are happy to offer it again in 2016. 47) Salvia nemerosa ‘Sallyrosa™ April Night’ PPAF is an early blooming, compact, blue-purple perennial salvia. ‘April’ blooms as much as a month earlier than some, has strong stems, is drought and mildew resistant and is hardy in zones 5-11. 48) Scabiosa ‘Black Pompon’ PPAF is a unique pin cushion flower with its dark burgundy flowers. The blooms appear in early summer and can persist well into the summer with proper care. Established plants can grow to 24” and it is hardy in zones 7-9. 49) Sedum ‘Rock ‘N Grow™ Lemonjade’ PPAF is part of the Proven Winners® perennial collection. This unusual variety has grey-green foliage that disappears under the many yellow bloom heads during the summer. It grows 18” and is hardy in zones 3-9. 50) Sedum ‘Sunsparkler® Lime Zinger’ PP#24632 is a ground cover type sedum growing 4” tall and making an impressive mat difficult for weeds to penetrate. The green foliage is red tipped and soft pink blooms appear in late summer. 51) Sempervivum (Hens & Chicks) ‘Purple Beauty’ and ‘Royal Ruby’ are new varieties added to our hens and chicks collection. ‘Purple Beauty’ has medium sized rosettes and purple tips. ‘Royal Ruby’ has ruby to smoky red rosettes. All sempervivums have the best color when grown in well drained, sunny places with little fertilize. 52) Veronica ‘First Love’ is a compact veronica with attractive deep green foliage and lots of bright pink bloom spikes that appear for weeks in the summer. It grows 12” and deadheading helps promote re-bloom. It is hardy in zones 4-8.
