In conducting the work that led to our report, the Commission held numerous open hearings in Washington and at Air Force installations and cities throughout the nation. We heard formal and informal testimony from Air Force leaders of many ranks; from the men and women serving in the ranks of all three components of the Air Force; from Governors, Senators, Representatives, and local officials; and from Air Force retirees and private citizens.
