Production history

These recordings were collected between 18 April 1966 and 24 October 1966 during fieldwork at Iron Knob, the Andamooka Opal field, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Ceduna, Thevenard, Port Augusta and Gerard Reserve, . The field trips were funded by an Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies (AIAS, now AIATSIS) scholarship and their purpose was to document the languages and songs the , Wirangu and Kukatja peoples. Other languages such as and Parnkalla are also discussed through this collection. Interviewees include Bill Wingfield, Moonie Davis, Teddy Hart, Phyllis Croft, George Turner, Suzanne, Carl, Phillip, Lena Miller, Lizzie Richards, George Bilney, George Guerkin, Rosie Peel, Ernie Queama, Bobby Queama, Freda Stott, Hilda Murray, Mr Moore, Leslie Moore, Bobby Crantock, Edgar Stewart, George Glennie and other unidentified participants. The collection was deposited with the AIAS on 16 November 1966.
