The decision to redistribute the funding came during the Turnpike Authority's morning meeting on Tuesday. It was felt that the widening of the turnpike was a higher priority than the construc- tion of Route 92 due to the fact that, according to Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando, Route 92 still has a number of hurdles to over- come such as the economic impact study. Still, Orlando was quick to point out that while Route 92 is definitely on hold, people should not be too quick to assume it's dead entire- ly, as funds could be sent to the project in the future. Still, at the moment, the widening of the turnpike has taken priority, j "We borrowed the money [to construct Route 92] in 2000, and you ordinarily don't keep funds sitting around for five years. You're supposed to be using them in a more timely manner. So, given the status of the turnpike widening and the fact that it has been made a priority, it makes more sense to switch that money to the widening proj- Entertainment ect," said Orlando. [ SPORTS Davidson's classic effort caps Vikings win ith the South Brunswick Vikings leading rival North Brunswick 6-0 at the half, W the Thanksgiving Day crowd was hoping for a thrilling finish to the annual contest. What they got instead was a showcase for the Vikings' remarkable senior tailback Vince Davidson. Though the Vikings dominated play in the first half, some costLy penalties and a fumble at the goal-line led to the slight edge at the half. But once the second half started, South Brunswick found its groove, and blew the game open by scoring on its first five possessions. The Vikings also made some big plays on special teams, scoring following two blocked punts and a fumble recovery on a kick-off. But it was Davidson, that left people shaking their heads, as the shifty back ran for 279 yards and four touchdowns on 30 carries. The 30th carry capped the brilliant showing, as Davidson broke free for a 62-yard touchdown, giving him exactly 2,000 yards for the season and 26 TDs on the year. Davidson will graduate as South Brunswick's all-time leading rusher with 3,662 yards on his career. On the other side of the field, North Brunswick's talented tailbackt Aaron Jackson, was clearly slowed by an Achilles injury, was held to juat 12 yards on seven carries.
