The 26th of July marked a new beginning for two families who suffered from the Asian Tsunami. They were provided with newly constructed houses in the vicinity of Kalutara. It was a result of a joined effort and private funding by the ALF/FORT Seafarer's Society and their principals, London Ship Managers Limited and Gibson Gas Tankers Limited of the United Kingdom. Mr. Ian Barker of London Ship Managers Limited graced this occasion as the chief guest. Eight more houses will be handed over to Tsunami victims in the near future which would make the completion of the first phase of this hous- ing project. The society will construct ten additional houses in the second phase of the project which is already underway. The intention of these sea- farers is to build and support a community of Tsunami victims in order to give them back their belongings which the sea has stolen.
