Swan Island PO Box 19000 Planning and programming for the new Swan Island training center continued into Portland, OR 97219-0990 winter 2011-2012. The trade technology programs such as facilities maintenance technology and the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) programs currently available at the Cascade Campus will be relocated to the new facility. During its 2012 interim session, the Oregon Legislature recognized the substantial jobs and educational value in siting the college training program on Swan Island. The authorization of one million dollars towards the renovation and expansion effort, subject to state treasurer approval, further leverages the voter-approved bond capital. The college selected Waterleaf Architecture, Interiors, and Planning of Portland as the renovation consultant. It is anticipated that the renovations will be complete and move in will be possible by early 2014. Columbia County PCC continued to speak with stakeholders about the college’s intent to construct a Columbia County Center. It also convened several meetings of a “thought leaders group” to develop critical perspectives on the focus and value of the possible Regional Public Service Training Center. The group has reviewed possible site development concepts and identified what specific features a successful center might contain. In September 2011, Columbia County voters approved the measure to expand their Urban Growth Boundary (UGB). The area under considerationBO forND a possibleUPDATE training center is currently outside the UGB. At this writing, the Land Conservation Development Commis- sion (LCDC) has not yet made its decision regarding the UGB expansion.
