Fifteen-year-old Tracy Kirkdale of Squamish is in Lions Gate Hospital following a hit and run accident on Government Road at 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 20. Kirkdale was struck while she was repairing a bicycle chain while standing on the edge of the road. She was struck from behind by a northbound vehicle, throwing her into a ditch. Kirkdale was taken to Squamish General Hospital by ambulance and later to Lions Gate Hospital. The offending vehicle did not stop and immediately left the scene of the accident. Squamish RCMP have located the suspected vehicle and it is under seizure. The owner, Ronald Cameron LaForge, 37, of Squamish, has been arrested and released. He will appear in Squamish Provincial Court on Aug. 26, charged with hit and run under the criminal code. NQTICE
