Kompayak Captures WBA Interim Title World Boxing Association Official Site http://wbanews.com/new Kompayak captures WBA interim title WBA#3 flyweight Kompayak CP Freshmart (50-4,35 KOs) successfully captured the WBA interim flyweight title when he scored a sixth round TKO over WBA#6 Jean Piero Perez (20-6-1,14 KOs) on Friday at the City Hall Ground of Khonkaen Province, Thailand. The referee was Ferlin Marsch (New Zealand). The judges were Francisco Martinez (New Zealand), John Poturai (USA) and Juan Manuel Garcia Reyes (Spain). The supervisor was Alan Kim (Korea). This was an impressive comeback of Kompayak, a former WBC lightfly title holder, who lost his WBC crown to Adrian “El Confesor” Hernandez in their rematch on October 6 last year in Toluca, Mexico. The first round was a close affair when Kompayak displayed his aggression on Perez who also did well with his counterpunches. From round two, the Thai fighter effectively weakened the Venezuelan with his vicious bodyshots, clearly gaining the scores both round two and three. Perez came back in round four as he displayed his fast footwork and also countered the local hero with his quick jabs punctuated by his right straights which cut Kompayak’s left eyebrow. In round five, Kompayak speeded his assault, landing his tough right hooks and bodyshots which almost dropped his opponent in the last minute of the round. Finally, the show was ended when the former WBC king landed a big uppercut, then he displayed one-sided attack which forced referee Marsch to stop the bout at 1:48 of round six. 2 / 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).

Brant-Murata 2 to Kick Off International Three-Card Weekend Extravaganza on ESPN+ (July 10, 2019) — Before hometown hero and WBO No. 1 featherweight contender Shakur Stevenson headlines against Alberto Guevara at Newark’s Prudential Center on Saturday evening (ESPN and ESPN Deportes, 10:30 p.m. ET), boxing fans will be treated to a trio of world-class cards exclusively on ESPN+, the industry-leading sports streaming service. Set your alarm clocks and smartphone alerts and get ready for a weekend fistic extravaganza. FRIDAY (7 a.m. ET on ESPN+) “Breakfast and Boxing” returns with one of the year’s most highly anticipated rematches, as Rob Brant will make the second defense of his WBA middleweight world title against the man he defeated to win the belt, Ryota Murata, at EDION Arena Osaka in Osaka, Japan. Brant (25-1, 17 KOs) upset Murata last October in Las Vegas, snatching the belt in a thrilling performance that saw him throw 1,262 punches, the second-most ever recorded by CompuBox in a middleweight bout. Murata (14-2, 11 KOs), who became a sporting hero in Japan after capturing Olympic gold at the 2012 London Olympics, has not fought since. Brant, meanwhile, defended his belt in February on his home turf with an ESPN- televised 11th-round TKO over the previously undefeated Khasan Baysangurov in Hinckley, Minnesota. In the co-feature, Ken “The Amazing Boy” Shiro will make the sixth defense of his WBC light flyweight title against Filipino challenger Jonathan Taconing. Shiro (15-0, 8 KOs), Japan’s longest-reigning current world champion, won the title May 20, 2017, with a majority decision over Ganigan Lopez.
