I was invited to attend Oct. 18’s brainstorming meeting for the Bluffton Free Street Fair to write a story about how the volunteers are working on a bigger and better event for next year after this year’s historic cancellation. (I recapped the meeting in the Friday, Jessica Oct. 23, News-Banner.) I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect Bricker but I left the meeting feeling a little overwhelmed by all the information thrown my way. Many of the people gathered wouldn’t have had a reason to share their thoughts until they were asked, so a lot of input was provided by community leaders not generally involved with the fair’s planning. And it’s coming at a good time; the fair is at a critical juncture. There is so much more to the fair — said to be Indiana’s oldest and largest — than one week of set up, events and tear down. For some, the event is nearly year-round. Longtime officers and directors of the fair are ardent- ly receptive to hearing new ideas and to getting new faces involved. They will continue to accept suggestions and public feedback. But like it was said that night and what I’ll repeat here: Anyone involved with a volunteer organization knows it’s hard to get people involved and to stay involved. Large efforts need manpower. Questions Joe Biden should answer It was said on that Sunday evening that many people were likely unaware the Street Fair had a board until the First, Joe Biden’s Praetorian Guard in the media the oil company that was paying your son argued that the New York Post’s Hunter Biden scoop Hunter more than $50,000 a month?
