Note This club may well have Early heavy track iron c1875 - with a sharp neck crease and belonged to one of the Hope family who created The New very stout flat 5" hosel - re shafted hence some visible nicking - Luffness Golf Course in the 1890s - the decision by The Hope the head measures 2.5" x 1 7/8 and fitted with period full length family to build a golf course nearer to Gullane created a rift at leather grip with thick underlisting the Luffness GC (Close to Aberlady) which at that time was Estimate: £150.00 - £200.00 situated on the far side of The Peffer Burn on land now which is part of the Nature Reserve- the outcome was a non acrimonious split in the Club where half left to play the new Lot: 43 course, thus forming Luffness New Golf Club (1894), whilst the Fine and early Carruthers patent bore thro' hosel heavy smf remaining members accepted an offer from a neighbouring general iron c1895 - with heavy nicking to the hosel fitted with landlord, the Earl of Wemyss to build a golf course on the links period thick hide grip with underlisting land which was renamed The Kilspindie Golf Club in 1899.
