Football of today is not a carefree game but big business" - A study of Swedish leading football journals view of the Swedish national football team and the professionalization 1958-2015 In this study we’ve followed the Swedish national team in football from 1958, nine years before the removal of the Swedish amateurisms, throughout the professionalism until 2015. The purpose has been too look at the leading football and sports journals to compare the view of the Swedish national teams in football during the world cup years of 1958, 1974, 1994 and the qualification too the UEFA Euro 2016 which was played in 2015. We have also looked into the view of the professionalization of Swedish football which has turned into a more international professionalization during the last twenty years. The football and sports journals we’ve study is Idrottsbladet (1958 & 1974), Svensk fotbolltidning (1974 & 1994), Goal (1994 & 2015) and Offside (2015). We have an analysis with focus on the professionalisms progress. The analysis is based on three views, philosophy, organization and economics. The philosophy has changed from being a game too become a spectacle, the organization has gone from volunteering too wage work and professionalism too interacting agents. In the economics football has gone from having its focus on the results of the sport to the result of the profit, to being about money by spectacle. -

Campaigning against racism 08 Announcements 23 PHOTO: BONGARTS links editorialto be fostered When two parties do not speak the same language, it is highly likely that both will remain firmly rooted to their positions, each accusing the other of not understanding. Not so long ago the European Union seemed to consider professional football as a purely economic activity. UEFA, on the other hand, with a greater focus on the sporting aspects and the unity of football, strongly opposed football yielding absolutely to economic laws, particularly since only a minority of its member associations were based within the EU area. At the end of 1995, the Bosman ruling and the new situation and consequences that it brought about in the world of European professional football acted as a catalyst on both sides and has resulted in the dialogue being stepped up. In addition to improved contact, a variety of individual cases, including international transfers and UEFA Champions League TV rights, alongside the provisions of the EU’s Nice Declaration, have helped lay down solid foundations for partnership based on mutual understanding and trust. -

THE UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT. JOE KOVACS, SHOT PUT As the track & field outdoor season comes to a close, shot put thrower Joe Kovacs has enjoyed a breakout year in 2015. At the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, Kovacs won his first World Championship title in the men’s shot put on August 23. Kovacs finished the qualifying round in the lead with a mark of 21.36m, automatically qualifying him for the final on just his second attempt. The win in Beijing marks Kovacs’ seventh first place victory so far in 2015 and he is the sixth United States thrower to win a world title. Leading up to the World Championships in Beijing, Kovacs led the pack throughout the season. He had a strong start at the UCLA Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational in April where he claimed first place and improved his personal best distance. Kovacs continued this strong momentum into the 2015 IAAF Diamond League meets where he dominated the competition earning three first place finishes as well as a second and a fourth place. To add to his list of 2015 gold medals and first place finishes, Kovacs won gold at the USA Track & Field National Championships in June with a throw of 21.84m. One of Kovacs’ biggest victories during his outstanding 2015 season was at the IAAF Diamond League meet in Monaco in mid-July. -
