If Sutherland can hold tight than perhaps an upset could be on the cards. A few slip-ups in the past few weeks opened the door for APIA Leichhardt Tigers to steal top spot from Olympic but last week’s 3-2 win for the Abass Saad coached side proved they’re not giving up without a fight. Sutherland Sharks have had a frustrating season with Grant Lee’s side struggling to find consistency and live up tot their potential. Alejandro Sanchez will be the key to this game and Olympic’s Spanish striker will looking to add to his incredible goalscoring tally. Sutherland has developed a reliance on Jacob Tratt this campaign with the former A-Leage defender being a huge part of what the Sharks do both in attack and defence.

Sydney FC 2 – Sydney Olympic 3 at Lambert Park A second half resurgence was enough for Sydney Olympic to claim a 3-2 victory over Sydney FC at Lambert Park on Saturday night. After a slow first half, the visitors picked up the pace in the second stanza to secure an important three points that put them back in contention for the NSW Premiership, despite a last-minute penalty to Sydney FC. Goals to Max Burgess, Alejandro Sanchez and Nikola Kuleski cancelled out two penalty conversions from Sydney FC’s Jeremy Cox and Jerry Skotadis. Olympic are now level on points with top side APIA Leichhardt Tigers but remain in second spot because of an inferior goal difference.

Sutherland Sharks 0 – Manly United 1 at Seymour Shaw Super sub Sam Wilson was the hero firing home the winner for Manly United in a tense 1-0 victory against Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw on Saturday night. United scooped all three points after Wilson’s incredible 89th minute winner which broke the hearts of Sutherland fans as the game looked destined for a draw. The Sharks struggled to find their rhythm against a robust Manly side with their key playmakers unable to find the quality which could’ve been the difference The result has kept Manly’s finals hopes alive with three rounds to go while Sutherland’s chances, although still mathematically possible, are all but over.

ydney Olympic suffered their heaviest loss Sof the season in Round 19, going down 6-0 to Sydney FCt at Lambert Park last Saturday. Still, the side from Belmore sit just off the bottom of the table on goal difference, having conceded two goals fewer than fellow cellar- dwellers Rockdale City Suns. Things don’t get any easier for Olympic this weekend, as they welcome Sutherland Sharks to Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon. The Sharks copped a shocking defeat at the hands of Manly United last weekend to slip to their fourth loss in five games, yet remain a Premiership contender and a real threat for the finals provided they can shake themselves out of their present funk. Sutherland are now three points behind first-placed Blacktown City, having previously occupied top spot for all but three rounds of the season to date. Olympic have reason to be optimistic heading into Sunday’s game having beaten Sutherland 2-1 earlier in the season, though current form would suggest they’ll face a far trickier opponent this time round.
