Blanchet Catholic School President’s Message September 2013 President’s Advisory Board Dear Blanchet Community, Rick Adelman, NBA Coach Blanchet was blessed with another successful school year in 2012- Gayle Caldarazzo - Doty, Community 13. We dedicated our new Student Center with an official blessing Relations Director, Doty & Company, P.C. by Fr. Todd Molinari, celebrated the talents and achievements of Peter Courtney, Western University the Class of 2013, formed an alumni association, and our Board Chief Justice Paul J. De Muniz, of Directors received a national award for excellence from the Oregon Supreme Court National Catholic Education Association, and much more. I am Larry Epping, Larry Epping Building Company extremely proud of all that we have accomplished this past year. Gerry Frank, President, As I prepare to leave Blanchet Catholic School for a new Gerry’s Frankly Speaking opportunity in the Salem community, I am thankful for each student, Jeff Gianola, KOIN-TV parent, faculty, staff and board member and especially those who Joseph Hanna Jr., President, support Blanchet with prayers and donations. Without all of you, Blanchet would not be the Hanna Consulting, LLC success it is today. I am grateful that Mr. Tony Guevara, Blanchet’s current Principal, was James S. Kreitzberg, Benefactor asked to serve as both President and Principal for Blanchet. His experience as president/ Kevin Mannix, Attorney at Law principal of another Catholic school, and as director of development at a large Catholic school Patti Milne, Marion County Commissioner in California, will ensure a smooth transition for the Blanchet family. I can step into my new position knowing that Blanchet Catholic School will be well taken care of. This is the largest endowment donation received in school history. The school Mass leverages the experience of the board to create strategic planning documents that drive the school’s activities while remaining true to its mission of providing a quality Catholic college preparatory education to area youth. Blanchet Catholic School May 2014 Athletic Successes The 2012-13 season took eleven Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Blanchet sports into OSAA State Championship competition. In the 1 2 3 fall, cross country, boys soccer, volleyball and football saw playoff action. Caitlin Anglemier was named All-Mid Valley Player of the Year and head coach Sherrie Bashaw was PacWest Volleyball Coach of the Year. During the winter, the boys and girls swim 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 teams saw state competition Open House ~ Mid High Play while the boys varsity basketball 2:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. Traveling Tour ~ ~ 2:00 p.m. team earned the PacWest St. Vincent, Queen championship and went on to of Peace, finish 2nd in state. Brent Counts St. Joseph schools was named PacWest Player of the Year and head coach Jon Tromblay was selected PacWest 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 Basketball Coach of the Year. In spring, the varsity softball and Pen Mass Half Day Mother’s track teams earned the PacWest Day championships and, along with baseball, went on to state competition. Sami Belleque was named PacWest Softball Player of the Year and head softball coach Jerry Orlando and head 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 track coach Dave Mucken were School Wide Music Concert ~ selected as PacWest Coaches Service Day 7:00 p.m. of the Year. The boys golf team were conference champs with Nic Ditzler named District Player of the Year and both the boys and girls teams competing at the state level. In tennis, Malvika Ramesh 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 was the singles conference Memorial Day Activity Awards ~ Senior Parent champion and went to the 2nd No School 6:00 p.m. Breakfast round at state. Finally, Sami Senior Retreat Belleque and Trey Gianella were selected as Blanchet’s Athletes of the Year, Caitlin Anglemier and Brent Counts received the OSAA Award of Excellence and Sami Belleque was named SSBC Female Athlete of the Year.
