 VMI basketball continues its homestand Saturday afternoon, as the Keydets play host to the Winthrop Eagles at Cameron Hall. Okoye Preseason Player of the Year: Senior Stan Okoye was voted Big South Preseason Player of the Year prior to the start of this season. He is, in fact, the first Keydet to be named the conference preseason POTY since VMI joined the conference for the 2003-04 season, and is the first VMI hoops standout to earn any Preseason Player of the Year honor from a conference since 2002-03, when Jason Conley was tabbed with that honor by the .

Coaching Staff Changes: This summer, VMI made a pair of coaching staff changes, adding one coach and promoting another. Longtime VMI assistant Jason Allison was promoted to Associate Coach - Recruiting Coordinator, and Ryan Mattocks was hired as the team’s newest assistant. Mattocks' (Duke ‘11) primary duties include assisting the staff with practice and game prepa- ration, scouting, recruiting, and player development. Mattocks also coordinates team travel and oversees study hall during the academic year. Allison begins his eighth season on Baucom's VMI staff and has spearheaded the Keydet basketball recruiting efforts over that time.
