Sisterhood News

Normally, I would write an upbeat note from Sisterhood for this column. And, elsewhere in this issue, you will find the information for our January luncheon meeting on January 18th. But I have something more important that I would like to address in this column this month.

While Sisterhood has had a good year...increased membership, successful Fundraiser... we have had a rough year personally. We've lost long time beloved members such as Jane Starr...and those who we know and love...Steve and Renee...have lost a son. It is at times like this that our own mortality comes into question. What can we do? What can we say?

Nothing can help but time itself. But we CAN do something very important. We can reach out to those who have lost someone; we can be there for them. We can hold their hand and give them a shoulder to cry on and an arm to hold them. We can stop with the pettiness of grudges and slights and reach out to both our friends and our so-called enemies in a gesture of love and respect.

So, as you enter this New Year, that is what my resolution will be...and I hope it will be yours also. I pledge to reach out everyday to those who are in need of a hug, a kiss or even just a smile. I pledge to never go to bed angry or let a day go by that I don't reach out to my loved ones and tell them how much they mean to me.

May this year be the year that we find love, peace and happiness. May we all heal and may the sun once again shine in all our lives.
