4 5 We have had another busy week at school with lots 6 of fun learning and different events taking place. 7 Last night, we had our first school disco since 2019 8 (due to Covid-19) and we were really impressed with 9 how the students behaved and the fabulous range of 10 costumes that the students wore, linked to the 11 Disney theme. This week a number of students also 12 attended the Science Roadshow which they thoroughly enjoyed and the whole school enjoyed a 14 wonderful performance from a group of students from 15 Northcross Intermediate School from Auckland. It was also a 16 real pleasure to join in on the Eid celebrations where we enjoyed a lovely feast of 17 food with our Muslim students in Room 6. Thank you so much to all of the parents 18 and caregivers who were able to come along to this celebration. A big well done 19 also to those students who represented Fairfield Intermediate at the Literature 20 Quiz held at Southwell this week - you did yourselves and the school proud! Well 21 done. 22 23 This week has also seen the completion of the refurbishment of Rooms 1 to 4 24 which we are extremely excited about! We are really happy with how the rooms 25 have turned out and they are wonderful modern learning spaces for our students to 26 work and learn in. Thanks once again to Totara House for your patience and we 27 hope that you really enjoy your new classrooms. Our newly built garage and storage room has also been completed which will be a real asset to the 29 Kapa Haka Noho school. Our next building projects, which are due to start at the beginning of July, will be the refurbishment of our administration area and the redevelopment of an 31 outdoor area for the students to enjoy. Today your child will come home with some 32 information regarding our Readathon that the PTA are running in order to assist in 33 raising funds to go towards this new outdoor area. Thank you in advance for your 34 support of this fundraiser - every little bit helps! 35 36 It is with sadness today that we farewell one of our Fairfield Intermediate whanau 37 members. Mrs Sharon Arnold, our Finance Officer, had her last day at our school 38 today after four years of working at FIS. Sharon is taking on a new position in a law 39 firm which will provide further opportunities for professional growth. Sharon has 40 been an absolute asset to the school and we will all miss her dearly. We wish her 41 all the best in her new position and we look forward to still having her as part of our 42 extended whanau. 43 44 Just a reminder that on Friday 4 June we will be having a Teacher Only Day, which 45 means that the school will be closed for students while as a staff we undertake 46 professional learning. The Teacher Only Day includes all of the schools in our 47 Kaahui Ako - approximately 18 schools and early childhood centres in the 48 Hamilton North area - and the focus is on setting the scene for Aotearoa 49 New Zealand histories. 50 51 Please don’t forget to get your tickets for our school production, Beauty 52 and the Beast, taking place in week five of this term. The students have 53 been busy rehearsing and are super excited about performing to a live 54 audience. It will be a great show, so please come along and bring your 55 whanau. 56
