US Citizen? NO study visa required for Ireland! IMMIGRATION All U.S. Study Abroad students MUST register with the local Garda National Immigration Bureau between 30 - 90 days (stamped on your passport) on arrival into Ireland. You must bring:

-A valid passport -CIT Student Card (issued in Cork on arrival into CIT) -Evidence of financial support (€500 per month of stay) -A letter from CIT stating that you are a registered student -Immigration Card Fee: €300 -Health insurance policy

Please note: You must register with immigration in Cork before travelling outside Ireland. Please ensure that you comply fully with Irish Immigration Regulations and that you have all the required documentation ready for inspection by immigration officials at Shannon Airport. Semester Dates

Food: Approximately €55-€65 per week ($60-$70)

Bus /Train Tickets: LEAP Card TFI Leap Card can be used on Cork City bus services (operated by Bus Éireann) as well as Cork commuter rail services. TFI Leap fares are 30% cheaper.

Student Leap Cards are processed in the SU Office in CIT. The Student Leap Card is the only means by which you can avail of student fares on commuter/city bus services. You will each receive a Leap card upon arriving in Cork!

Leisure/entertainment: A student cinema ticket costs €7.00 ($8) for matinee screenings and €9.00 ($10) for evening screenings, and soft drinks costs around €2.00 ($2.50) per glass. Many theatres, clubs, pubs, etc. offer special student discounts Practical Information – Medical

MEDICAL CENTRE The Medical Centre is located on the first floor of the Student Centre. Doctor: Monday - Friday 11.30pm - 1.00pm Nurse: Monday - Thursday 9.30am – 3.45pm Friday 9.30am – 1.00pm Follow-up appointments should made directly with the Medical Centre by students themselves. There is one late-night pharmacy in Wilton, which is close to CIT and one on Patrick Street in the centre of Cork. There are pharmacies and dentists located throughout the city centre and main Bishopstown campus.

18 CIT STUDENT’S UNION The Students’ Union represents and defends everyone who attends CIT on matters affecting their rights and interests as students. They act as a channel of communication between the students and other bodies. Bus tickets, travel timetables, and various publications throughout the academic year. Visit their shop to buy lab coats, goggles, phone credit and photocopying cards.
