Press Release September 16th 2020

SCHEDULE CHANGES IN NOVEMBER 2020 AT OPER

To comply with corona safety restrictions which affect rehearsing and performing conditions changes have also had to be made in programming for November 2020 at Oper Frankfurt:

The first ever production of Alexander Zemlinky's Der Traumgörge (Georg, the Dreamer) scheduled to open on November 22nd 2020 has been postponed to a later season and is being replaced by Le vin herbé by Frank Martin (1890-1974). This Secular Oratorio (1938/1941) for voices, 7 strings and piano was something wanted to stage at some point in the future, and now that future has arrived sooner than planned. There is no change in production team (Conductors: Markus Poschner / Nikolai Petersen; Director: Tilmann Köhler). No changes in performance dates in November, December and January 2020/21 are planned. More information and the cast will be made known soon.

The new production of Gaetano Donizetti's Don Pasquale (Conductors: James Hendry / Simone Di Felice; Director: Caterina Panti Liberovici) will open as planned on November 6th 2020 in the Bockenheimer Depot.

Information will be released soon about the planned revival of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel (Conductor: Michael Sanderling; Director: Keith Warner) on November 29th 2020 in the Opera House and the Recital by John Osborn on November 17th November 2020.

A concept is being worked on to try and make at least some of the Special Events and Concerts in the Foyer take place.

Advance bookings: Tickets go on sale on the 7th of the month before the performance in question from the usual outlets, our advance box office, telephone sales +49(0)69 – 212 49 49 4 and online www.oper-frankfurt.de. Limited capacity (only 390 people are allowed into the auditorium at the moment) means that subscription holders are being given the chance to get seats before tickets go on sale.

It cannot be ruled out that further changes will have to made to the season after November 2020 but, if there are, they will be announced as soon as possible.

In the hope that you might be able to publish this information. If you require further information or have any questions please contact: Holger Engelhardt (Leitung Pressereferat) on +49(0)69 - 212 46 727. His fax number is +49(0)69 - 212 37 164, or you can send him an email: [email protected].
