PRICE £1.25 THE Ambassador ‘So we are ambassadors for Christ...’ 2 Corinthians 5:20 Farewell to Archbishop Archbishop Richard Clarke celebrated the Eucharist and preached in St Patrick's Cathedral on Sunday evening 2nd February 2020 for what was his final occasion as and Primate of All Ireland. He had announced in November 2019 his intention to retire on 2 February which in the church calendar is known as The Presentation of Christ in the Temple or Candlemas, 40 days after Christmas.

In his sermon Archbishop Richard reminded us that at Christmas, Christ had come as the light of the world and at Candlemas that light is brought out by God's people to the whole world.

The Archbishop said that tonight he will be 'letting go' of the Armagh Crozier (his staff). He went on to say that we are all challenged to let go of things that we may cherish most, for the sake of the gospel. But one thing we Archdeacon paid tribute to Diocesan Secretary Jane Leighton spoke on should never let go of is the hand of Jesus Archbishop Richard on behalf of the Clergy behalf of the people, the diocesan staff Christ. and Readers while Canon Bill Adair members, Diocesan Council and the various presented a gift on their behalf. Archbishop Richard responded graciously and thanked the many people who had been with him on "his adventure" as primate - the clergy and people of the Armagh Diocese, the Diocesan staff and volunteers, the central church staff, the House of and his friend and co-Archbishop of Armagh - .

Following the service in the Cathedral, supper was served in the Alexander Synod Hall.

At a recent workshop held by the Diocese of Armagh (21st February 2020), clergy and lay workers from the Diocese examined matters and issues impacting on the place of young men in the Church.

The “Missing in Action” workshop aims were as follows...

1. That participants on the “Missing in Action”? workshop, would be better informed, resourced and challenged as to how to better engage with young men.. 2. That through presentations and roundtable discussions, good practice ideas that engage young men in children’s ministry are highlighted and explored.

One participant in addressing the question as to young men being “missing in action” in terms of their engagement with the Church asked the question “What actions do we want/need men to give themselves to?”. I for one have been pondering that question too...
