SENIOR

Key Stage 3: The Drama curriculum continues to be a diverse and electric curriculum that challenges and stretches all students. Exploration of Drama skills, links to Geography, Global Citizenship, History and English are made with topics that include texts, current affairs and Drama practitioners.

GCSE Drama: Year 10 performed their devised pieces based on a range of stimuli that explored gender inequality, bullying, the conflict between Israel and Palestine and poems written by Allen Edgar Poe. Year 11 also performed their extracts to a visiting examiner, there performed a range of contemporary texts.

A-Level Drama: Year 13: Performed Monologues from ‘Five Kinds of Silence’ and extract from ‘Cagebirds’. Year 12: Students continued to develop their devised piece ‘Out of Frame’ which was due to be performed in August 2018.

Drama Productions: A wealth of talent was on show on and off the stage in the Senior school Musical ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’ and the Key Stage Three students along with the Year 10 GCS students worked on the first House Drama competition.

Theatre Trips: Key Stage 4 and 5 students were taken to see ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’, Secret Theatre, ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’, ‘A Man of Good Hope’ and ‘The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged’.

ISTA: The department had the opportunity to take a small number of students to the ISTA High School Festival in Mumbai. The homestay nature of the trip allowed students to really immersive themselves into the city and the festival provided and amazing opportunity for students to visit Dharavi and meet the people who live and worked in this micro society. This in turn became the stimuli for the festival. Students worked alongside each other from a variety of schools and took part in masterclasses. It was also the first time KS3 were able to attend a HK Middle School Festival and again students used their home Hong Kong as a stimuli to create a performance through the medium of devising.
