1. Introduction

The Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd. has planned to rehabilitate and upgrade their existing infrastructure to meet the requirements of new projects, at Shipyard, Karachi, Pakistan. The consultancy service has been awarded to NESPAK Karachi.

Under rehabilitation work “South Quay wall” has to be refurbished which is situated at West Wharf Karachi. The existing Quay wall is about 154.678 meter long, 13 meter wide and 10.5 meter deep (approx.). The quay wall is composed of reinforced concrete cap beam supported on steel piles & sheet piles.

In order to evaluate the steel sheet piles, an underwater colored videography and field observation about the condition of sheet pile is required.

2. Instructions to Bidder

2.1 Firms/contractors having experience of underwater videography are invited to submit technical and financial bid. 2.2 The firms should have qualified/certified Divers with proper insurance cover. 2.3 The firms should have approved Medical fitness certificates for divers. 2.4 The firms should be capable of operating, maintaining the Surface Supply and equipment. 2.5 Utilise suitable for deployment of team of divers and standby divers for the underwater survey in various tidal conditions. 2.6 The firms should be capable of recording all the survey works conducted under water and also provide live display to the nominated representative of End User. 2.7 Ensure to obtain clearance of KS & EW of all divers providing requisite documentation, 24 hour before deployment of divers on work.

2.8 The firm may visit and examine the site of works and its surroundings and obtain for themselves on their own responsibility all information that may be necessary for preparing the quotation. All cost in this respect shall be at the firms' own expense. 2.9 The successful firm/test conducting agency/contractor will be expected to complete the works within two (02) weeks from the date of award of work. 2.10 The firm must submit details of similar jobs completed during last five years in Pakistan along with necessary details. 2.11 Bid security shall be 2% of the bid cost in shape of Pay Order/Bank Guarantee in favour of National Engineering Services Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited and shall be submitted along with the bid. 2.12 Upon award of work, the bidder is to submit Performance Bond of 10% of bid cost in shape of Bank Guarantee. 2.13 Bid must be received by NESPAK not later than 17th August, 2018 (Friday) at the address given below. 2.14 NESPAK reserves the right to accept or reject any or all quotations, at any time prior to award of work, without thereby incurring any liability to the affected firms. 2.15 The firms may contact the resource person at above address to obtain further information, if required.

3. Scope of Work

3.1 Underwater colored videography of steel sheet pile with dedicated Monitor for observing above water. 3.2 The videography is required for 154.678 meter length and 2 meter deep from EL. +0.700 meter. Condition of steel sheet pile shall be noted and reported accordingly. The mean sea level is EL. +1.64 meter. The work shall be executed during low . 3.3 Horizontal and vertical lines shall be marked on the sheet pile as shown in the elevation in attached drawing. The same lines shall serve as grids for identification of

the holes and other anomalies in the videography and photographs. 3.4 The videography is specially required to investigate effects of corrosion on steel sheet pile and other damages like holes and erosion due to corrosion. 3.5 Suspected spots to be scraped and photographed. 3.6 The divers shall be reported about the effect of corrosion, damages, holes, erosions etc. 3.7 All the observation/condition of sheet piles on site has to be documented by systematic manner and report accordingly.
