Neos SmartCam Alexa Skill FAQ’s

Amazon Alexa Integration If you have an Echo Spot, Show, Amazon Fire Tablet, or an Amazon Fire TV stick with voice control, you can now use your device to view your Neos SmartCam feed. You will need to enable the Neos Alexa Skill on your amazon account, which can be done using either the link here (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07P7LQLQM/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-skills&ie=UT- F8&qid=1551199190&sr=1-1&keywords=neos) or alternatively search for Neos under the skills section of the Alexa app.

To ensure you are able to connect your Neos SmartCam to your Amazon device it’s important your camera has the latest firmware update installed. The version of firmware you need is 4.15.2.41 or above.

How to connect Amazon Alexa Set up your Neos SmartCam using the Neos SmartHome app and name your camera. to your camera Update your camera’s firmware to the latest version (4.15.2.41 or above) You can do this by • Entering the app • Clicking on the live stream for the camera • Click the settings cog in the top right • Scroll down to Firmware • If an update is available, it will say so • Tap on this and it will begin updating the firmware

Once you have the latest firmware on your Neos Smartcam, you can either

• Ask Alexa to “Enable Neos skill.” • Enable the Neos Alexa Skill on your amazon account using the link here (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07P7LQLQM/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-skills&ie=UTF8&qid=1551199190&sr=1-1&keywords=neos) • Alternatively search for Neos under the skills section of the Alexa app and enable it that way.

Once you have found the Neos skill and clicked enable, please open the Alexa app and follow the on-screen instructions to link your Neos SmartCam account to Alexa. You will be prompted to enter your Neos SmartCam username & password to authorise Alexa to access your camera.

Once connected please open the Alexa app and select Add Device so that Alexa can find your camera. You can also say, “Discover my devices.” After Alexa finds your camera, it’s listed under Devices in the Smart Home section of the Alexa app.

The camera will be set up with the same name used in the Neos SmartHome app. If you want to call your camera something else when using voice commands, you can modify the camera name in the Alexa app. Changing the name in the Amazon Alexa app will not change it in your Neos SmartHome app.

If you decide to rename your camera in the Neos SmartHome app, to get the new camera name to show in the Alexa app, you’ll need to re-sync your Amazon device and have it rediscover your camera. You can do this by loading the Alexa app then once in the Devices tab, tap Add Device. Alexa will discover devices and won’t find any new devices, but the new camera name should show when you view your devices.

To disconnect your camera from Alexa,

• Open the Alexa app • Go to the menu • Select Smart Home. • In the devices tab, tap your camera • Use the options to delete or disable the camera.

How to use Amazon Alexa Once your Neos SmartCam is connected to your Amazon device, you can use the following voice commands to view and hide the commands camera’s livestream. Say any of the following to view your camera’s livestream:

“Alexa, show me [camera name]” “Alexa, show my [camera name]” “Alexa, show the [camera name]” “Alexa, show [camera name]” Say either of the following to stop viewing your camera’s livestream:

“Alexa, stop” “Alexa, go home”

Things to note:

• The Neos Amazon Alexa Skill only works on Amazon devices that have a screen and can display video. The skill won’t work on any devices that don’t have video capabilities, such as an Amazon Echo. • The Neos skill works with cameras that are connected to your Neos SmartCam account, they will not work with any other cameras that you are a member of i.e. a friend or relatives etc. • The Neos Alexa skill does not support 2-Way Audio. • The Neos SmartCam livestream will be displayed for a maximum of 10 minutes before it disconnects from the feed. To continue streaming, repeat the voice command. • The easier the name the better so we recommend you assign your camera an easily pronounceable name, such as “Garage” or “Living Room.” • If you rename your camera in the Neos SmartHome app after you set it up with Alexa, you will need to have Alexa re-discover your camera through the Alexa app in order for the new name to work with Alexa. See step 4 of “How to connect Amazon Alexa to your camera” above.

What data does Amazon have Using the Neos skill will give Amazon access to your camera name and they theoretically have access to the live stream because we have access to? to pass the web address to the Alexa device, the actual video stream isn’t routinely loaded by Amazon – the web address gets passed to the Echo device, which is then responsible for displaying it. Stream web address links are also only valid while the stream is being viewed and expire after ten minutes. The page used to authorize the Neos skill is owned by Neos, meaning that your password and account information are not shared with Amazon. The alert videos triggered by motion or sound detection are stored on the Amazon AWS cloud, and are only viewable through the Neos SmartHome app and are not viewable by Amazon or anyone else who is not added to your app.
