Paul McMahon Assistant Coach Paul McMahon is in his fifth year as an assistant coach on Jeff Boschee’s staff and this will be the first season as the top assistant for the Lions. In 2016-17, McMahon also served as the Athletic Academic Counselor for the University. He also spent three seasons as the head coach for the men’s JV program. As a two sport standout at Jefferson City (Mo.) High, he was a three-time all-district Basketball selection and was named to the Missouri Class 5 All State basketball team his senior year and was also a two-time all-district selection in baseball. He was a scholarship freshman member of the 2011/2012 Truman State University basketball team before a pre-season knee injury ended his college basketball experience. Following his injury, he joined the Truman State baseball team in Spring 2012 and was a starting pitcher as a freshman. After his freshman season, he transferred to the University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg, Mo.) where he was a relief pitcher on the Mules’ baseball team. In his senior season, he helped lead the Mules to a 43-15 record, MIAA regular season and Tournament Championships, a Region Championship and an appearance in the Division II World Series. His Mule Teams posted a 75-33 record over his junior and senior seasons. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri in May 2016 where he earned his degree in Sports Management along with a minor in Business Administration. Cody Seidel Assistant Coach Cody Seidel is in his third season with the Missouri Southern Coaching Staff and first as a full-time assistant coach. He will also be in charge of coaching the MSSU JV Men’s Basketball team. In his previous two years with the Lions, Seidel has helped recruit athletes from the Midwest, while also assisting with practice planning for both the varsity and junior varsity teams. He has helped in player development workouts for forwards and guards, as well as being responsible to scout opponents and produce reports for the team. Seidel also helped coordinate team camps and community service and fund raising activities. Prior to Southern, Seidel spent six years at Missouri State University where he served three years as the Director of Basketball Operations and three years prior to that as the Video Coordinator. As the Director of Operations, Seidel would help coordinate game schedules, order gear, monitor operating and foundation budgets, organize on-campus recruiting visits, served as the summer camp coordinator, helped organize fund raising events for men’s basketball as well as the entire department, and monitor recruiting days for assistants and head coach. Seidel has a bachelor of science in secondary math education from MSU and a masters of professional studies with an emphasis in sports management, also from MSU. A native of Jefferson City, he and his wife, Sara, welcomed their first child, Sophie in November of 2020.

Bevo Francis Watchlist For the second year in a row, Cam Martin was named to the Bevo Francis Award Watchlist. The award goes to the best player in small school basketball which encompasses Division II, Division III, and the NAIA.

Three-Point Streak The Lions failed to make a three-pointer at Arkansas Tech in their match-up in 2012-13. It was the first time in 403 games that Southern had failed to hit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999 against Missouri S&T. The Lions have had a three in 239-straight games since Arkansas Tech in 2012-13.

20-Win Seasons The win against Central Missouri last year gave the Lions 20 wins for the third-straight season and the fifth time in the last seven seasons. It is the fourth 20-win season in Jeff Boschee’s six years as a head coach.

Perfection For just the third time in program history, the Lions went perfect at home during the 2018-19 season (13-0). Only the 1969-70 (11-0) and the 1999-2000 (18-0) teams were also perfect at home. The Lions are 66-14 in Jeff Boschee’s tenure at home.
