TurboTax 2005 Boosts Value of Customers' Refunds

Delivers Confidence in One Simple, Complete Package

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Nov. 16, 2005 - Inc. (: INTU) today announced TurboTax® for 2005, available in stores Nov. 25. This year, Intuit has dramatically simplified its flagship TurboTax products, introducing new customized navigation and replacing tax jargon with simple English.

Intuit continues its focus on solving new customer problems and this year, introduces TurboTax Estimated Taxes, the only online solution for the 10 million taxpayers who feel the pain of paying estimated taxes four times a year. Best of all, TurboTax is giving taxpayers something to get excited about - a new, breakthrough opportunity that could turn the average $2,200 refund into $2,500 in gift cards or more.

Greater Simplicity, Complete Confidence In direct response to customer feedback, the language used throughout TurboTax has been rewritten so that it is more specific and actionable. The writers and tax experts at TurboTax have focused on those areas customers said are most in need of improvement. For example, last year, TurboTax asked customers to "Enter Educational Expenses." This year, TurboTax explains each element separately and then asks customers to enter amounts for "Tuition," "Books," then "Supplies." By replacing tax jargon with plain English, TurboTax gives customers more confidence that they have answered every question accurately.

Because tax documents don't arrive all at once, TurboTax for 2005 now features "MyNav," a major step forward that lets customers tailor TurboTax to their individual needs. With this new navigation option, customers can enter information as they get it, instantly and easily going anywhere in the product at anytime. Customers can make changes in a snap and then immediately return to where they left off; saving time and building confidence that their return is complete

For tax year 2005, TurboTax Online, www..com, will become available Dec. 1, a full five weeks earlier than previous years. This leading online Web tax service has all the same great customer-driven improvements as TurboTax desktop plus new enhancements. Intuit is once again revolutionizing online tax preparation by making the chore of doing taxes a bit more fun. TurboTax Online now includes humorous help and guidance from Click & Clack — Tom and Ray Magliozzi — the hosts of National Public Radio's "Car Talk" program.

Also new for 2005, Intuit is introducing the ultimate way for customers to increase the purchasing power of their tax refund — the TurboTax Refund Bonus program. Intuit has teamed up to offer gift cards from more than 50 popular retailers, including: Lowe's Home Improvement, Coffee Company, Blockbuster, Expedia.com, Bed Bath & Beyond, Borders Books & Music, and JCPenney to enable customers to get more value from their refund. Customers can use any portion of their federal refund to buy gift cards from their favorite retailers and get bonus dollars on every gift card they purchase. The bonus dollars can as much as double the value of the gift cards. For instance, a $25 gift card from floral delivery giant FTD.com is available for half its face value when purchased from a taxpayer's refund.

Even before consumers open a box of TurboTax, they'll notice major customer-driven improvements. Responding to customer feedback, Intuit has eliminated TurboTax product rebates. With everyday low, hassle-free, "what you see is what you get" pricing, buying TurboTax is simpler than ever. Additionally, customers who buy TurboTax Deluxe or Premier federal software receive one state product and access to ItsDeductible® software, the leading software that helps taxpayers accurately value their non-cash charitable donations in compliance with IRS guidelines. TurboTax for 2005 contains all the tools taxpayers need to do both their federal and state taxes in one box.

"We've made TurboTax much easier to buy and use, so customers will notice a real difference from the start," said Brad Henske, general manager of Intuit's consumer tax group. "Customer-driven improvements have resulted in a more customized experience, making TurboTax the right choice for an even wider range of taxpayers. And with the new Refund Bonus program, we think TurboTax for 2005 is the best yet and will set a new standard for do-it-yourself tax preparation."

More "Right for Me" Choices for Individuals and Small Businesses Available online in January 2006, SnapTaxSM for TeleFilers, www.telefiler.com, is designed specifically for the more than 3 million taxpayers who relied on the 's discontinued TeleFile program. SnapTax for TeleFilers makes doing taxes fast and simple, offering a secure, paperless option that lets taxpayers electronically send their taxes directly to the IRS so they can get their refund back fast, in as little as 10 days. Also new this year, Intuit launches TurboTax Estimated Taxes, the only online solution for the 10 million taxpayers who feel the pain of paying estimated taxes four times a year. Available in stores in late November, TurboTax Estimated Taxes helps eliminate tax-time surprises, penalties and fines and minimizes under- and over-payments.

Improved for tax year 2005, TurboTax Business is designed for S Corporations, Partnerships and Limited Liability Corporations, and C Corporations earning up to $250,000 annually. The software guides customers through their taxes, helping them to prepare an accurate, complete business tax return. Or, customers can complete the program's step-by-step interview before meeting with their accountant, so they can ask better-informed questions.
