ORDER OF WORSHIP The Lord’s Day X Palm Sunday X March 28, 2021 X 11:00 a.m. Rev. Justin M. Beam, Senior Pastor Dr. Jerry Newcombe, Associate Pastor

PRELUDE Mr. David Nagy, Piano/Organ The Palms Sanctuary Choir Jean-Baptiste Faure Csárdás Miss Veronika Ferrell, Violin Vittorio Monti O Divine Redeemer Mr. David Nagy Charles Gounod

MEDITATION SCRIPTURE Philippians 2:5-11 ESV Dr. Jerry Newcombe Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 118:24-29 ESV Dr. Jerry Newcombe Pastor: This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Congregation: Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! Pastor: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord. Congregation: The Lord is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar! Pastor: You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. ALL: Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast endures forever!

*HYMN OF ADORATION All Glory, Laud and Honor No. 300

*INVOCATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (spoken) Dr. Jerry Newcombe Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen

*CONFESSION OF FAITH WCF Shorter Catechism: #27 Rev. Justin Beam Pastor: Wherein did Christ’s humiliation consist? CONGREGATION: Christ’s humiliation consisted in his being born, and that in a low condition, made under the law, undergoing the miseries of this life, the wrath of God, and the cursed death of the cross; in being buried, and continuing under the power of death for a time.

*CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE Gloria Patri No. 812

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN Luke 5:8 ESV Rev. Justin Beam But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”

PASTORAL PRAYER Rev. Justin Beam This week, please pray for Amanda De Young, RUF Fellowship at Mercer University and Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Amanda has seen tremendous growth in her groups as well as individual spiritual growth among the students in her Bible studies! Covid has been especially challenging on college campuses so please pray for all campus ministries as they struggle to “be there” for the students and minister through trying times.

WELCOME TO VISITORS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPECIAL MUSIC In the Name of the Lord Arr. Camp Kirkland Choral Ensemble; Mr. Michael Irvin, Director Miss Lindsey Novitske, Soloist

Crowds have lined the narrow street to see this man from Galilee. Just a carpenter some say, leading fools astray, yet many kneel to give Him praise. And in His eyes, they glimpse the power that sees the hearts of all men. And He knows His Father’s mind and He speaks His Father’s words, for He comes in the name of the Lord! There is strength in the name of the Lord. There is power in the Name of the Lord; there is hope in the name of the Lord! Blessed is He who comes, in the name of the Lord! When my plans have fallen through and when my strength is nearly gone. When there's nothing left to do but just depend on You and the power of Your Name. And when we call upon Your Name, Your strength through weakness to show, we can know the Master’s plan, extend the Master’s hand, when we come in the name of the Lord. There is strength in the name of the Lord. There is power in the name of the Lord; there is hope in the name of the Lord! Blessed is He who comes, in the name of the Lord! His name will be worshiped forever, Creator, Redeemer, and King! And King! There is strength in the name of the Lord! There is power in the name of the Lord! There is hope in the name of the Lord! Blessed is He who comes, blessed is He who comes, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! In the name of the Lord!

Evening Worship Service | 6:30 p.m. | Fellowship Hall The Palms - Prelude (Jean Baptiste Faure)

O’er all the way, green palms and blossoms gay Are strewn this day in festal preparation, Where Jesus comes to wipe our tears away; E’en now the throng to welcome him prepare.

REFRAIN: Join all and sing, his name declare! Let ev’ry voice resound in joyous acclamation! Hosanna! Praise ye the Lord! Bless him who cometh to bring us salvation.

Sing and rejoice, O blest Jerusalem; Of all thy sons sing the emancipation! Thro’ boundless love the Christ of Bethlehem Brings faith and hope to thee forevermore. REFRAIN

All Glory, Laud and Honor

All glory, laud, and honor to Thee, Redeemer, King. To whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring. Thou art the King of Israel, Thou David’s royal Son, Who in the Lord’s name comest, the King and Blessed One.

The company of angels are praising Thee on high, And mortal men and all things Created make reply. The people of the Hebrews with palms before Thee went, Our praise and prayer and anthems before Thee we present.

To Thee, before Thy passion, they sang their hymns of praise; To Thee, now high exalted, our melody we raise. Thou didst accept their praises; accept the praise we bring, Who in all good delightest, Thou good and gracious King.

Jesus Shall Reign

Jesus shall reign where’er the sun Does its successive journeys run; His kingdom spread for shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

To Him shall endless prayer be made, And endless praises crown His head. His name like sweet perfume shall rise With every morning sacrifice.

People and realms of every tongue Dwell on His love with sweetest song, And infant voices shall proclaim Their early blessings on His name.

Let every creature rise and bring His grateful honors to our King; Angels descent with songs again, And earth repeat the loud “A-men!”
