The simple rectangular form fits on as a complimentary addition to the dominant form of the CTB. The site was earmarked as one of two venue- specific training sites (VSTS) in the greater Cape Town area. The criteria for selecting these VSTS’s were that they should add value and be of use to the broader community post 2010, and that they should attempt to redress the imbalances of the past, and leave a lasting legacy for SAFA, PSL and football development as a whole. contractor WBHO/PHC Construction project value R40 million

COMPLETED Feb 2010 Union House, Cape Town, South Africa client Department of Public Works, Western Cape description Union House is located in Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town next to the Company Gardens. The fit-out formed part of the Western Cape government’s modernisation of its commercial office spaces, which entailed converting largely cellular office space to open plan office space. client Department of Public Works, Western Cape description This involved the refurbishment and replanning of 9 floors of 3 Dorp Street in Cape Town. The works encompassed the total replanning and interior design of all floors for the Department of Environmental Affairs. The ground floor alterations facilitate improved building entry, public access and connection to neighbouring buildings. The facade was redesigned with the addition of various green building principals which reduced the buildings energy consumption. contractor Status Africa project value R45 million

COMPLETED JULY 2019 Standard Bank - Adderly Street, Cape Town, South Africa client Standard Bank Ppty) Ltd description Standard Bank Building in is one of Cape Town’s oldest and most historic buildings. The building has not been in use as a bank for the last couple of years. In order to revive the building to meet current requirements, various proposals were tabled including an Art Gallery in the back portion of the building which would include a rooftop modern structure to accommodate a restaurant. This modernisation will be the 3rd major addition to the building in its history, giving the building a functional purpose for the foreseeable future. contractor Currently still in planning project value R200 million

COMPLETED NOV 2018 Everard Read - New Art Gallery, Cape Town, South Africa client Everard Read description The new Everard Read gallery is to replace the existing gallery on the same site. The site is part of the Portswood precinct in the V&A Waterfront. The building is made up of a basement, 2 exhibition floors and a roof deck, there is also an admin wing in place of the existing courtyard. The building is conceived as a pure solid with the volume opened up strategically to allow light and access functionality giving an introverted focus on the buildings ability to display paintings and sculpture. The roof deck is partially covered with an organic free-form roof which is conceived as a “marker” for the building and the Everard Read in the precinct. contractor Currently still in planning project value R28 million

COMPLETED OCT 2018 Conlog Office & Factory Development, Durban, South Africa client Sapphire Star Properties description We were tasked by the developer to propose ways of retaining an existing tenant, a large-scale international electronic manufacturing company, on the verge of relocating due to changing requirements and corporate image. Our proposal changed their intention to relocate. We endeavoured to “connect” the building to its street and context as well as the employees to their work spaces. The vertical organisation of the building expresses and showcases the manufacturing process. contractor Natal Construction project value R30 million

COMPLETED NOV 2009 Hankey Magistrates Court, Hankey, South Africa client Department of Public Works, Eastern Cape description This Magistrates Court is a new building for the town of Hankey in the Eastern Cape, for the Department of Justice. The project required the design and planning of a complicated brief, which was further complicated by the site being too small for the accommodation. The two Magistrates courts are connected to the public via a large central concourse that also formed the link to the courts for the many administrative support offices. The magistrates themselves access the courts independently with the parking and detainee facilities located in the basement. This project has led to our Durban office getting the contract for the renovation of the Durban High Court, a R200 million project. contractor Waralaza Construction project value R35 million COMPLETED MAR 2014 Ecology Park, Cape Town, South Africa client description The False Bay Ecology Park was rolled out over two phases firstly the main administration building and then the addition of the workshop, garages and hall. The buildings are organised around a central courtyard area. The project used sustainable systems to produce a finished product with a low carbon foot print. In addition to the first two phases, we look forward to the fourth phase, the addition of the accommodation and information centre. contractor Ryan Construction & Maintenance project value R30 million
