From Frank Sinatra to The Shadows to Stray Cats, the Stones, Chet Atkins and 1 times. The album was recorded in September 2008 in a ‘home’ studio where 27 tracks were recorded in 4 hours with no retakes. John Beshara on lead, Dennis Goodall on rhythm, Bob Goodall on drums and Barry Treloar on bass. A good selection with THE SOUNDTRACK TO AUSTRALIAN SURFING some great guitar work. My only criticism would be ABC / UNIVERSAL (Aust) 5316313 that more vocal variety and harmony would improve things. Thanks to Barry for the review copy. This THIS IS THE SEA - THE WATERBOYS / time, Martin Cilia is the star, co-writing all of the BOMBORA - THE ATLANTICS / SPIEGEL IM tracks. I must admit that I really enjoyed this. There SPIEGEL (EXCERPT) - SALLY MAER & SALLY are cool love songs, bluesy shuffles, bossa nova, WHITWELL R&B, swing and more. Martin contributes some tasteful and varied licks and includes two instrumentals, The Entrance and Night Driver. Steven Howard handles the vocals, Mike Berry is on I finally got around to purchasing a copy of bass, Andy Gatfield on sax, Bill Kezelos on drums this. Only four and percussion. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly are proud to formally recognize those talented musicians whose influence on and participation in a genre of music is of great import and whose talent has set them apart as the finest of American artists; and WHEREAS, veteran guitarist Harold Ray Bradley is one such musician who is widely renowned for his prolific recordings, studio achievements, and industry leadership; and WHEREAS, in recognition of the impact he has had on the genre of country music, Harold Bradley was formally inducted into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame by the Country Music Association in 2006; and WHEREAS, born on January 2, 1926, in Nashville, Harold Bradley first took an interest in the banjo, but his brother, the late Owen Bradley, steered him toward guitar; by 1943, Harold Bradley was playing amplified jazz guitar and acquired his first job playing lead guitar with Ernest Tubb’s Texas Troubadours; and WHEREAS, from 1944 to 1946, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; he then headed home to Nashville to study music; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bradley’s first country recording session came in 1946, when he recorded with Pee Wee King’s Golden West Cowboys in Chicago; his acoustic rhythm guitar opened Red Foley’s 1950 smash hit “Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy,” which jumped to number one on both the country and pop charts; and WHEREAS, though a capable lead guitarist, Harold Bradley’s studio specialty has been rhythm work; on many sessions he lent his musical talents to a studio-triumvirate with lead specialists Hank Garland and Grady Martin; and HJR1221 01147350 -1- WHEREAS, Mr.

    EDITION #20 – September 2008 SPECIAL "SHADOZ" ISSUE!! "Shadoz 2008" marked our 6th anniversary, as well as the 50th anniversary of Cliff and The Shadows. Yet another new venue, and, from all reports the best yet. On a sad note, we recently lost one of our Shadoz friends, Don Hill. Don played drums for Harry's Webb and The Vikings last year, and was one of the 'stalwarts' of Shadoz in recent times. R.I.P. Don. TONY KIEK (Keyboards) and GEORGE LEWIS (Guitar) were fresh from a tour of the UK, where they appeared at a number of Shadows clubs. They were gracious enough to help out by filling the 'dreaded' opening spot. Their set was a wonderful introduction to the day, and they featured some great sounds with WONDERFUL LAND / FANDANGO (with WALTZING MATILDA intro) / DANCES WITH WOLVES / THING-ME-JIG / RODRIGO'S CONCERTO / GOING HOME (THEME FROM 'LOCAL HERO') / THE SAVAGE / SPRING IS NEARLY HERE Whilst Tony and George travelled down from Sydney, no less a feat were the next band, who have travelled from overseas – Phillip Island! - ROB WATSON (Bass) was formerly with Melbourne group "The Avengers", TONY MERCER (Lead Guitar) also played with various Melbourne groups before "retiring" to the island and forming "SHAZAM", MIKE McCABE (Rhythm) worked in England in the 60's with "Hardtack", MARTY SAUNDERS (Drums) played with the popular showband "Out To Lunch" amongst others, and JEFF CULLEN (Lead vocals and rhythm guitar) sang with The Aztecs in Sydney before Billy Thorpe, then with The Rat Finks. Abstract The release of Loretta Lynn‟s 2004 album Van Leer Rose welcomed back after 33 years one of the premier feminist voices in recorded music. The songs that Loretta wrote in 60s and early 70s were some of the most controversial and politically charged to hit the airwaves. They encompassed a microcosm of issues that rural women were facing including the changing sexual roles of women, ideas on marriage, the ravages of war and substance abuse.
