Bulgaria first to qualify with a round to spare Although they managed “only” 65 V.P. over yesterday’s five matches, Bulgaria won the qualification stages easily enough with a full match to spare, well ahead of India, Pertamina Blue and SaruntaWaya. The strict Swiss format for the final round had some interesting effects on the outcome, however, as only 5 V.P. separated the teams ranked 5th and 10th. As a consequence, the exact tie between the nos. 9 and 10 after 9 rounds, PON Jatim and Great Britain, saw them both through to the top eight but only because PON Jateng and SaruntaWaya both scored big enough wins to keep their respective opponents out of the top eight. With every team in the top 16 having at least one life, there still is everything to play for today for all the teams still in contention. Good luck to you all but for the moment: Well done, Bulgaria, so far! World Invitational Bridge Championship 2015 Lion Hotel & Plaza Manado Result
