Pedro is a nice ranch gelding who is very quiet and gentle. Pedro is easy to catch, loads in a trailer well, is good with his feet and is 100% sound. This gelding has been used in a feedlot and he has moved cattle, dallied to cattle in corrals and has roped dummies in an arena. Pedro will go anywhere you point him and he has no problem crossing obstacles such as railroad tracks and rides well in the bush. On trail rides he is good with other horses around him as well as teams and wagons and he is used to dogs. Athena is a beautiful 2010, 15 HH buckskin mare. She’s been barrel racing, spent all last summer moving cattle and occasionally sorting, been to the mountains multiple times and has recently been introduced to the rope. She started her barrel racing career in 2019, but 2020 season was missed due to Covid. She has been lightly patterned on the poles and started over fences. She loads great, trims/shoes, behaves great in groups or by herself. She is 100% sound and has very good ground manners making her a safe horse to have around kids. Athena attended her first show this past fall and did quite well. She would do well in local shows, 4-H, team penning/sorting, High School Rodeo/Rodeo Queen, cowboy challenges or just on the ranch, and is a very pleasurable trail horse. She is not a beginner’s horse, as she has a tendency to lose confidence in herself during certain stressful situations and looks to her rider for reassurance. She is approximately 15 HH. Kit has been used here on our farm for the past few months to move cattle, work buffalo, and just do all around ranch work. She would be a great mount for anyone looking for the athletic type, to go and do anything on. She walks out nice and is very sure footed, not the lazy type. Bred to be a powerhouse, she is just that; fast, quick footed, strong, and as tough and gritty as you’ll find. This mare is not for the faint of heart, she is all there, all the time. Prior to barrel racing she spent three months in the feedlot which she loved- she hasn’t an ounce of cow blood in her, but you’d never know it because she is the type that will pin her ears and go to great measures to make sure she’s not beat. She’s since spent many hours tied in the roping arena, bringing calves back up, dragging harrows, and seeing the chaos that ensues with two little boys around. She’s trailed kids through the stubble field on both quads and snowmobiles, dragged a calf sled full of kids, and has covered many miles out of the arena- this just might be the fastest walking horse I have ever thrown a leg over. Roxy has been hauled to barrel races around central AB where she has really shown her bravery and “try” as she will run into a new arena and go to work, even without time Video Link onlies. She’ll look for a barrel in any arena, and she’s the kind of horse that tries her guts out on every single trip. She does need a strong, confident rider who can help guide her to success as she can get nervous at the gate, and she is unbelievably fast and strong leaving a turn- I’ll say it again, she is not for the faint of heart. This mare loves big open patterns like Ponoka, and with no time onlies at CBHI she ran a 18.7 and then a 19.1, and she is only going to improve with more opportunities to run on such patterns. There is absolutely no shortage of speed in this dragon of a mare- she’s truly a phenomenal athlete. She’s good to clip, bathe, load, haul, etc, but she is a little quirky about some things which I would be happy to discuss if you’d like to give me a call. In mid October Roxy bruised her splint bone on her right front leg and still has a lump there which is her only blemish. She does require light maintenance to work her best. If you’re looking for something with the potential to be a rodeo horse, this is the one. She’s the horse that will never ever leave you wondering if your horse could have tried harder, and she’s the kind of mare that once you become her buddy she will go anywhere and do anything to please you.
